Andanzas: Actually, that's all it takes, isn't it? To keep your profile private so people can't check if the game was redeemed. So, if the moderators are going to change the rules, maybe it would be necessary to make public profiles mandatory, and I don't know if that would be fine with everybody.
With all the trolls out there? Not a good idea! BUT perhaps group membership could entail permenant membership with one of the GOG group admins (if they're up for it) as that would ensure someone can see!

it would be nice if someone could just add 'steam gifts.com' onto the friends list like the groups so you wouldnt need to make the thing public.

but for here that sounds reasonable as well, or a couple of GOG group admin types. for all i know the few GOG members on my friends list are the admin of the group >_<

ErekoseDM:
I think as a requirement you accept at least one admin (or perhaps a willing and well trusted community gifter well versed in SG requirements) may well be a solution to this woe repeating in future - though it could be extra work for all concerned, as long as gifters publish the winners names etc then it could work as a deterrent too.

...and yes! - that works really well as an extension (or solution) of my thoughts on the sync recognising whether or not someones redeemed a game they have won!

No need to have fully public profiles. All you need is to tell the other person you will need to verify they have activated the gift within 7 days and they can make it public for you or you can friend each other and use the option to make it visible to friends. After its been verified, you can unfriend or set it back to private, etc.
If they don't respond to you at all though, you're within SG rules to report them.

But everyone should take that extra step after sending the key to make sure the winner has activated the game within 7 days. It'll help avoid all manners of problems to others and probably yourself too down the road.

This is a good conversation and I definitely don't want to derail the thread, but a whole page without a giveaway is an abomination!

Good luck to you all. This giveaway is going for the next 21 hrs or so.

Thanks for the chance, have been interested in trying these.
@ DarkoD13

the website wont let me comment back on your last message to me.
i was at a LAN Event, & was packing up from it so i didnt have enough time to message you back this way.

here is the link of my other giveaway that has not been redeemed:
http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/lhDrA/miner-wars-arena

you guys can look it over, appropriate action has already been taken & GoG Admins. have been notified about it & are aware...

i usually wait out a week, if a person has not redeemed a gift & marked it as received days after. this way they have time & it isnt rushed, its a bit longer than the SteamGift rules, but i feel that that is more than enough time to redeem a gift if someone already has enough time to check it off as received, then a week, is more than enough time to redeem it...

Death2Videodrome:
OK, thanks for letting everyone know.
Unfortunately, I'm not a member of the Gift Club and can't check the giveaway, so please PM the link to the user's SG profile, just in case.
damn just woke up and saw this :O im shocked i mean he had won a lot in before and starts to do this all of a sudden ?

ya regarding keeping active members only the club ? how can we implement that ? have a thread where the members of the club have to post in at least once or more in a week ?

keep the new ideas coming in , we certainly need to be more careful these days , the group size has doubled since v3 started

changes may take awhile cause they have to be a sensible ones but in the meanwhile gifters please make a through check of the person winning your giveaway , if you feel something is not right , aka user inactive , not activated previous gifts etc ask for a re roll asap , report to mods

Remember make it a habit to add the person on steam as a friend and gift the game through the steam trade , in case something goes wrong steam can also take action against the user , in case of key, try to send it only the chat along with a fixed amount of time warning to activate the key.

will talk to darknath and see if we can implement a fixed amount of time for the winner to activate gifts/keys after once he receives them from the winner.

Thanks for all the gifters for making the awesome giveaways , despite a few bad apples a lot of us really appreciate the chance you give the members to win games.

ok was thinking about having this protocol for the winner
here is a example
1) a wins a giveaway
2) b adds him on steam , chats with him first
3)a has to activate the game asap , when the b the gifter is in the chat with him
4) no gifting till the user is online and is ready to activate asap the moment he gets the gift, no response to be active in a steam chat in 7 days or refusal to activate or accept friend request for chat , ban and reroll if possible

@all: Yes, please keep the group admins informed and also report these users to SG admins as well. This goes against their rules, too.

If you see a group member who has been suspended, let one of us know that, too.

Person running the giveaway has a week to send the prize to the winner. When the winner says they have they gift, it should be activated.

I told Death2Videodrome to wait the full week until the giveaway had been closed a week (it had been marked as received after 3 days).

I think that works best. One week for the prize to be sent and redeemed.

ya that 7 days thing is something that cant be changed , what about the protocol i mentioned in the end ? aka winner has to be online on steam + active on chat and has to activate asap on getting the gift when active in the chat with the gifter

That would work. I don't think it's 100% necessary, but of course that is probably the safest way to do things.

I definitely recommend it with private accounts, if possible.

I agree. Here is a giveaway for the only GTA game I have ever played:

GTA: San Andreas

Good Luck!
Edit: I guess I should mention I made it so that there is a min of $30.01 to enter.
