Secondly, If you buy the Humble Monthly, anything that hasn't been previously bundled will give you full value - at least until it gets re-bundled. Humble Monthly games are not considered bundled.
Thirdly, yes, a bundle dump to bring you back up over level 3 is the only way. I wavered between 6 and 7 for months like a yoyo since I wasn't doing a lot of GA's. Now I'm well into level 7 and unlikely to drop back (she says hopefully :-p)

I have to too, and have played it. This game is AWESOME. I highly recommend. The replay value is great and the voice actor is terrific. Enter people!! :)
