Most people in public giveaways do not comment, they just want to win a free game. It's sad that common courtesy is not the norm, but it's not. Although there are some people who don't like comments as they think most are shallow.

Thank you for the reply. I personally like comments, hi, hello, not entering as its a **** game lol - these are fine with me, it helps me build friends within the club. I agree it is sad, and lazy. I remember now that it used to bug me, but I wont lose sleep.

To be honest, I'm always afraid to post something in giveaways when I enter –even in giveaways for this group– because for some reason now many people on SteamGifts don't like the comments (because of the notifications?), so I prefer not to risk to bother the giveaways creators. But if I win, I risk to be blacklisted and definitively thank for the gift received in all the giveaways I win.

Personally, I like to read the comments –if the entrants want to comment– and to comment, if asked. But I don't force a comment from the entrants. Although I think it's common courtesy to thank if you win, it's always nice to read a comment from the winner(s).

Current public GA has 1,060 entrants and 5 replies. I think it mostly has to do with the number of GA's that prohibit comments. Over a year ago I had a public giveaway with around 2k entrants and it garnered over 80 replies. Twice as many entrants, but 16 times as many comments. When I posted the previous GA, people weren't forbidding replies like they are now.

To be fair, I don't usually comment on public giveaways either. Its such a rarity to win (with such a small chance, I think people enter too many giveaways to be able to comment on each one). When I do win, I certainly thank the giver both publicly and directly if allowed.
