I have been inactive on Steamgifts for a long time and got kicked from this group. At least I think it was for inactivity?
For the last month I've been active again and would like to rejoin.

I'm contacting the other moderators to decide what to do about your case, and I'll give you an answer as soon as possible. Although I can confirm you were banned from the group two years ago (in March 15, 2014) due to a very long time inactivity on both sites (Rule #3) and also because you were banned from SG during that time (although I can't confirm for what reason was that suspension).

I can tell you why I got banned at that time. I won a Skyrim Guide on Steam, but the content that I actually won wasn't that guide but a game bundle instead, as mentioned in that giveaway's description too. The donor did it because the bundle didn't exist in the database.

The funny part was that I didn't even read the description back then and I didn't want the game bundle either. Anyway, I got banned for not activating what I had won. Which actually wasn't possible, as I hadn't won what I was supposed to win.

When I traded Rise of the Tomb Raider a month ago, I discovered that the missing guide didn't result in a ban anymore and began to participate again. I won't claim that I did everything right back then, but the system failed my first. ;-)

I have looked into this and your story checks out. Although why you would have a ban in 2014 for something that happened in 2012 seems strange.

Your fault is that you didn't mark the giveaway as "not received". The one who created the giveaways is at fault because it was a misleading giveaway. The description can't "override" what the giveaway is for. They sent you a bundle and not a guide, but they need to send the guide. It was not received, so you mark it as such.

By not marking it that way, it looks like you should have the guide, which you did not. So by not marking it correctly, you appeared to be the guilty party.

If I were you, I would check to see if you can change the status of that giveaway from "received" to "not received".

That is what I should have done back then. As far as I remember, I already had sent a them a mail before the ban, asking what I should do and I never received an answer.

Right now it doesn't matter, as the guide isn't covered by the Steam API anymore. At least that is what I figured out about these weird events, based on http://www.sgtools.info/nonactivated/golwar.

We discussed this, and after taking in consideration what happened and the reasons for both bans (GOG Gift Club and SteamGifts), we all agree to allow you to be re-invited. Please, don't forget to check the rules we currently have in the group, because we usually don't re-invite people after been banned from the group:

Welcome back to the club, invite sent ;)
