tinyE: I have both Rage and Mad Max.
Rage is all around a bigger better game but Mad Max is great for fans of the movies. The thing I didn't like about Max was the little "mini games" for lack of a better term, that typically involve scavenging for stuff. It kind of kills the flow, and if you are a completionist can be rage inducing because you'll insist on finding EVERYTHING.

DadJoke007: Have you heard of this great open-world game called Just Cause 2? A completionist like yourself might complete it in a weekend. I promise. *insert evil maniacal laugh*
I own it.
I keep starting and stopping it because I'd rather be playing the fishing simulator.

thraxman: Don't get Hitman (2016) get Hitman 2 instead and the Hitman 1 DLC for it. It'll cost more but is still cheaper then buying both games separately.
Oh wow, so the entire Hitman 2016 is condensed into a DLC for Hitman 2018 (Hitman 2 will always be Silent Assassin for me :P ). Thanks for the heads up. The Gold Edition of Hitman 2018 is significantly more than in my Steam wallet though so I'll be passing on it probably for the next 5-10 years or however it long it takes for them to release a DRM-free version on PC or a "Complete on Disc" console version.

Thanks for the heads up though.

InfiniteClouds: for instance Sniper Ghost Warrior is actually Complete Pack and not Trilogy. It includes all DLCs and the 3rd game, as opposed to Trilogy which includes "Art of Victory" which can be obtained DRM-free/retail while the other 3 cannot.'
Well, the steam deal is bad though. Fanatical gives you 1 game more for less money; if you don't want the Art of Victory, just pass the key on to zeogold.

InfiniteClouds: I've never owned any of these games (except Prey which would just be Mooncrash I'm missing) to clarify with regards to Dead Island. These games seem like... a child between Borderlands and Left 4 Dead? Or is that no accurate?
Borderlands and L4Dead are good games. Compared to them, the Dead Islands are 3rd or 4th league in respects of quality. You wake up & everyone besides you is a zombie suddenly. Your task: kill 'em. Even in the 1st game you feel a lack of variety, but Riptide gets really repetitive. And Riptide addionally shows that a remaster can look quite old. I would call the Dead Islands ... mannerist (and that's the opposite to clearly structured games like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, for ex).

Thanks for your input. Again, the primary goal here is to just use up the last of my Steam wallet funds as I never plan on making purchases on there again. As for Mankind Divided, I never played it but it sounded like a half-complete story that was shelved by Enix to where no one is holding their breath for the other half. I loved Human Revolution all the way up until the last hour or so where the game suddenly turned into Left 4 Dead out of no where and the 'choose your own ending' was literally just determined by which button you pressed. The original Deus Ex remains one of my favorite games of all time, by the way.

We disagree here, but that's OK. 3 games I liked to play on steam:
Styx: Master of Shadows https://store.steampowered.com/app/242640/Styx_Master_of_Shadows/
The Turing Test https://store.steampowered.com/app/499520/The_Turing_Test/
The Room https://store.steampowered.com/app/288160/The_Room/
Ryse was a fun romp. Can't believe it was $60 at one point. 5-10 $ feels about right. Good game for that price, like the new God of War, if GoW wasn't completely epic. Ryde is about 1/10th GoW, but it is pretty fun for $6.

How's it not complete?

I have Styx in my library but I haven't played it yet. How is the somewhat recent sequel "Styx: Shards of Darkness"? Any good? On sale for 9.99$ right now.

God I hope you're talking about the game! :P

I'm still amazed that they ever sold one record.

Both games are good (although not so excellent as Thief of course). The graphics in the 2nd game have slightly improved. The missions are varied, and the maps are quite large which gives the player the opportunity to check out different solutions. Styx, the goblin, again is a little bastard; his comments are cynical and bitchy as usual. On the other hand, the frame story is pretty vanilla, and the game still has bugs. In short: the game is good, but it could be better.

InfiniteClouds:
Call of Juarez Gunslinger and Wolfenstein Old Blood / New Order.

IMHO these are the best Doom-style shooters (movement and not cover-based) of last gen.

Mad Max and Rage

Both are very good post-apocalyptic games but also very, very repetitive.

Zombie Army Trilogy
.

A lot of fun co-op. IMHO not much fun SP... and I absolutely love the Sniper Elite series.

Ryse.

A good hack-n-slash if you can deal with the same style of combat, moves, and enemy types for the duration.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Trilogy.

I'm a fan of the series, but then I enjoy jank. TBH the only SGW game worth playing is 3... and even then there are caveats.

IMHO the Styx games are quite good, but certainly have some rough edges -- you're gonna "love" eyeing Styx' ability to jump and grab onto ledges from other ledges.

I've just picked up Talos Principle myself for €6 but having played it on the PS4 I can strongly recommend it.

Rage, the Wolfenstein games, Mad Max are also wonderful games.

Ryse was fun, but I advise caution if you have a fairly aging PC - it runs on CryEngine and very poorly at that. I can run most games more or less at PS4 quality on my (fairly antique) PC but it was hard to get Ryse running decently at any quality level.
I can't say I liked the new Wolfenstein that much myself. The action is solid, but what irks me is the storyline, which just feels overly serious considering how silly the world with its low tech Nazi technology is. It is basically a game, that looks like a parody, but with the writers and the devs not realising it.

I did pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider myself, as the reboot is the only game in the series I've liked. It does have a silly story/serious world problem, but it didn't irk me and the game is fun.

Mooncrash is quite different from the main game as its a bit rogue like, you have to progress with several different characters and manage to save them all in one run. Its fun, but not everyone who liked the main game would enjoy it i think. But damn, was the main game good.

From that list i would buy Rise of the Tomb Raider first, good game with decent length, some great locations and action sequences while a bit more open than the previous entry. I enjoyed it.

I wouldnt recommend Ryse Son of Rome, its like 6 hours and still managed to be completely boring, for me at least. Im not much into fighting games in general though.

About Mankind Divided: It did get a lot of undeserved criticism i think. The microtransaction nonsense is there, but you have to search to find it, it's clearly an afterthought that no one on the team really cared about.
The story is smaller than some of the previous entries thats true, but it isn't half a story, the DX games always had ambiguous endings and this one isn't much different. It felt rewarding enough i think.

It also has some extremely well done level designs and just looks and feels stunning in some places. Played it for 70 hrs with both expansions, definitely worth the bargain bin price they ask for it now.
Does anyone know if Ryse Son of Rome any good?
I saw some of the reviews after I posted
