Also to be clear, as i was reading people pointed out, this was on steam hardware fourms. To make it clear also steam doesnt like was said moderate game fourms directly, but they do. If you get banned from the steam fourms, then you get banned from a game forum, that locks your steam account. You can no longer play any game online. I remeber my friends like lets play no man sky, and im lkke i cant steam banned me. Hes like why do you always get banned from everything haha. Just stop talking on there like i do.

They are juat like any other monopoly, they just pop the nipple flaps open haha that is from sputh park, and go go find another corportation. Thankfully for me, gog is here. I dont know if Gog when they ban you or if they ban you from these fourms they no longer allow you to download, but it doesnt matter because you have all the back ups. Steam you are litterally just done when they ban you. Thats when it really sunk in my head wirh steam i own nothing, and they can just give me the boot for anything they decide reguadless of laws, reality, or anything. You defy steam long enough they will ban your social account, which is linked to all multiplayer services.

Game fourms are even worse on steam. Shourds of the avatar permentaly banned me, which as i said goes towards that for a lack of a better term ultra ban across all steam games. They did it because i went into thier fourma and aaid guys so you know this game is peer to peer, and they did a horrid job of doing it. You will lag regardless of your internet, and this game will never be playable online ever. It still isnt playable today with out lag.

Lets see, No man sky perm banned me because i wrote a rant about them going multi platform, saying how jesus christ u morons go multi platform when the game still doesnt even work right. Just yeaterday i played psvr on iron man mode, got out of my ship and fell through the ground and died deleteing my save. The pc version is so bad that even with a 8700k 5.3ghz and a 2080 150 core 600 memory it skips, and skips even worse in vr mode enough to make me sick.

Those 2 perm bans, and getting ban from. the steam hardware fourms is what got my steam account disabled once. I got banned from the hardware fourm again that time because I wrote listen, amd and intel are different tools, if you want high fps gaming you will need intel at 5 ghz oe higher, and the ram latency comes into play there some how. All this nonsense fan garbage is mornic. Which pissed some one off and they reported me haha.
Yeah i never talked on here till now that i remeber. I made this account to buy baulders gate and a few others on sale and never really used it, going back to steam. Im sure eventually ill get banned from these fourms haha, im gonna type something that is true it will piss some one off and they will report me on 20 accounts. With this though i dont care, i can download the offline downloaders. That is assuming gog even bans you from thier galaxy thing if you are banned here.

Yeah i dont live in the EU, i dont really follow the us laws on video games either. I just take my money else where :). From my experience most people do not even remotely care what steam does. Though i dont think that would do anything.
Valve fails to comply, it can be fined up to 3,000 euros per day for six months.
3000 a day for steam, would be like your town fining u 1 penny a day for 6 months if you didnt comply, which wouldnt get u to change what u were doing.

I tried once to explain steam to people, it just got me banned haha. Then i tried to explain it to a real life friend, and he said doesnt matter i dont want to talk on the fourms anyways. Sorry, my bad! Guidelines by Valve on how to handle moderation of forums. And yes there are many who do whatever they wish to without being removed or a group mobbing newbies just because they dare speak up and never get punished for it. This happens and isn't right. Best solution is to walk away when there is no resolution of conflict in sight or bad treatment, abusive language or mobbing is commonplace but tolerated. It is something you can't win and fighting it will only make the situation worse in such a case.

As there is always two sides to a story maybe OP was a victim being treated unfairly and banned without cause. Still it doesn't change anything to complain about here what has occurred someplace else.

If you want anyone to believe that you've been "persecuted" by Steam mods, better provide some evidence first. So far, after a dozen posts of yours, there still aren't any of that.

No. You were not. You may have been banned arbitrarily, unfairly or without reason. But not illegally. Their forum, their rules. They may admit and ban whomever they please. Steam mods may be a$holes, but they have the right to ban users from their company forum. Just like you would have the right to admit or ban anyone from a private forum that you operate. Well, that is entirely up to you. If you really think that banning people from a forum is illegal, I suggest you take it to court. Ranting about it in a competitor's forum won't help. Try to find a law that protects you from unfair bans and then make some lawyer happy. Good luck.

Forum bans seem like such a non-issue. If you purchased a game and dev takes this tactic, put in for a refund and/or modify your review to talk about this issue.

Side note - If you're on Steam and concerned about your privacy and game ownership, you should be buying their DRM-FREE offerings only. That way losing ownership of your games is a non-issue since you always go a copy

Far as I understand such bans can be "illegal". Moderators can act against their company. And they can do so in a way which is illegal. Consequently bans can then fairly be called "illegal"?
Furthermore in some places (see above link) arbitrary bannings can obviously be illegal. It would depend. Especially if bans include functionality of purchased games which was implied here in the thread. If a game is owned by the user it (or relevant functionality of it) cant be taken away legally for improper reasons. ToS do not matter overly in EU. I can probably find a link for the same case where it states that a large number of Steam ToS parts has no legal standing.

No, bans can not be illegal. They can damage the company, then the company would have grounds to fire the mod. But no one has a right to participate in a privately owned forum. Prove me wrong by quoting a relevant law. Also the OP only complained about a forum ban. Not a ban of his entire account.

And even that would be legal for Steam. You don't buy games there. You buy a license to play them for as long as Steam keeps them available for you. That's the entire point of their DRM-scheme. You rent access to games and they can unilaterally cancel the lease contract. You don't own anything and so they don't take anything away that you own.

That's the beauty of DRM-free. No one can take away a DRM-free game that you bought and downloaded. It's yours to keep.

Who cares, if you support something as evil as Steam you don't deserve any sympathy anyway.

So looking at your post history and reputation in general, I get the feeling you're the one with the stick that's smacking a hornet's nest. While it is true that some Steam forums will ban you for nothing, such as Grimoire: Harold of the Red Green Show most of them have internal community and moderation rules.

I should know, given that I moderate a community Discord for one of the biggest Starbound mods. Even the mod creator and head admin have stepped out of line, and he's given us orders to reign him in, should it be deemed so.
