It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Don't have RAM consuming issues.
But black square constantly covering whole library is testing my patience. Whose idea was that?

Heard that you can disable all that mess with this command
-no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist
Looks like XFire now.
Anyone remember that one? You know - communicator that count hours before Steam did that.

Gekko_Dekko: Recently, valve has released update to their steam library's UI. It was announced long time ago, yet many people (including myself) feel like its unnecessary change that only made things worse.
Since there are plenty of people who dont use gog exclusively, but also buy games on Gaben's shop - what s your opinions regarding this update?
I try to use the Steam client as little as possible, mainly just to start Team Fortress 2.

I was at first annoyed by the new interface, as it didn't show only my installed Steam games (= Team Fortress 2), but all games. It took me awhile to find the option to show only "locally installed games" and save it as a default, but once I did, I guess I am fine now.

I don't know why the Steam client was changed so much, and frankly I don't care, as long as it doesn't get into my way too much.

I didn't check yet, did the Linux version of the client get a similar overhaul already?

Leroux: You can see how it looks here (scroll down a bit).

I think it's the typical "one step forward, two steps back design" that we also know from GOG. It has some nice new functionalities, but all the icons and pictures are unnecessary and confusing bloat and for me they don't even load immediately but with a small delay when you scroll down (and AFAIK you can't switch to an icon- and picture-less style anymore either).
Looks like a slight improvement... as those image spots used to have achievements and other nonsense. But it's still ugly and annoying.

But if you have enough games in Steam drag&drop would at least let you better organize your games. Or maybe, someone could have a public listing of how they organize games and anyone can copy their lists so you could do 'D&D' as one and 'Puzzles' as another, and 'Good AAA' as another, etc... Rather than everyone build from scratch.
It seems like the intent of the overhaul is advertising tbh. You notice that the "What's New" tab is right at the top.
To be honest I have wanted to pack steam in for some time now and this UI gave me the final push. I won't be shopping there anymore and have already started to replace the games I play the most. Soon steam will be history for me.

Yup...they did it with the old version(store page was the default when starting it up) and now they just stick it in your face even on library view.

If it's on principle, that is fine and expected, but if it's due to the layout being hard to use you could always use galaxy 2.0(in future) and just buy games from steam and load them in Galaxy.

Narr! I am starting to buy from GOG games I enjoyed on steam. I want to dump steam completely moving over to GOG, using other platforms such as UBI/Origins/Epic for titles not here on GOG. Steam bye-bye.
The new update is terrible.

It now takes longer to load, longer to switch between games, longer to do anything. It is a complete resource hog. This is the same for my old pc and my newer gaming laptop.

Visually looks bloated. It reminds me of the confusing Windows 10 tiles on the start menu. At least those I could remove. On the Steam client, I can't.

All I want the darn client for is to get my games and play them. I don't need all the extra frills. Keep it simple and keep it from taking up too many Windows resources. Steam was pretty fast but now it's just as bloated as Origin, Uplay, and that god awful Epic client.
I don't really care much what's going on with steam, but I opened it out of curiosity...
Doesn't it now look like Galaxy 2.0 (in some aspects)? Interesting...

GNU/Linux users received same client as Windows users, same day, like it should be.

Crosmando: I have a feeling that Galaxy 2.0 will be a bloated mess that eats ram too.
thats why we need official gog/galaxy api, so people will be able to create compatible clients in case something will go wrong with official one

Can confirm they broke the steam client on both OS's near simultaneously.
The whole client went nuts for me after the update from few days ago.
Playtime is not recorded for most games, achievements don't pop-up when they should and lovely stuff like that.
Looks like Steam is going from bad to worse. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Haven't read existing replies yet, but "overdesigned mess that provides too much information about stuff that does not concern me" is what I would call the new library.

It's clear that it is mainly designed for people playing live service games, which is what GabeN and his team has always believed is the main focus in today's market. For regular Single Player games, this design is extreme overkill and a waste of resources.

Wish we could pick whether we want nothing but a list of titles through a lightweight Steam client, or a heavyweight community-focused client that puts all its energy to cater to Twitch streamer-types. Take note GOG, some of us just want a client that auto applies updates... Nothing more, I don't even need an interface, I double-click desktop icons to launch games.
