It feels like another hog UI. One of those that requires you to view it in full screen 4k, or be utterly unusable. I'm not going to buy a second monitor, just to properly view steam's client.
I like it once I figured it out.

DazBoots: You know I'm thinking of quitting steam too. It's become some sort of ignorant monster. It doesn't listen to it's customers anymore, it thinks it's untouchable and treats it's customers like money cows, openly.
I just need to sort things out so as not to inconvenience myself in the process.

And as it does, EpicGames will look more and more attractive...
What I do like about the UI is being able to organize your games by category. What I don't like about it is launching the game is a giant pain in the ass. The old UI allowed us to launch the game by double clicking on the title of the game. I wish that they will give us at least that form of functionality.

Can someone get some screenshots and put them up?

My Steam account is integrated on GOG Galaxy 2.0, so it doesn't bother me at all. Beside, no matter how bad the changes are, eventually we'll learn to adapt. I still remember about the YouTube layout outrage over a decade ago, but today most people can't even remember the old layout anymore. I'm sure Steam also has underwent quite a few layout makeover over the years.

This new UI is garbage, I do not understand how anyone could have thought it was a good idea.

When I click on my game, I want my game. I don't care about the screenshots RandomUser38 uploaded, I don't give a damn about let's players promoting their Youtube channel I WANT MY GAME.

Everything takes forever to load because of the stupid amount of random posts it's loading, it's so dumb. It feels more like I'm browsing a social media than a video game launcher, I hate it.

I enjoy how you try to defend new worthless UIs while accidentally describing how abusive relationships develop.

You can see how it looks here (scroll down a bit).

I think it's the typical "one step forward, two steps back design" that we also know from GOG. It has some nice new functionalities, but all the icons and pictures are unnecessary and confusing bloat and for me they don't even load immediately but with a small delay when you scroll down (and AFAIK you can't switch to an icon- and picture-less style anymore either).

I also noticed that the new library doesn't allow to distinguish between owned and family shared games anymore. The shared games are just mixed in with your own ones, there are no categories "XXX's games" anymore, so you can only tell who owns what if you click on the games individually and you won't be able to spot any new additions to the library of your friends' or family members anymore.

Can you elaborate? Because I get the opposite impression - for me it actually appears to be functional even with the smallest possible window size.

You can turn the community tab loading off in the options.

It feels like the list of truly lightweight software is becoming shorter by the day (not that Steam was very lightweight mind you). I have a feeling that Galaxy 2.0 will be a bloated mess that eats ram too. If only all programs were as well coded and lightweight as Foobar.

They were all sniffing glue and eating crayons at the time so it's understandable to a degree. ;)

As for the layout/a bit more serious reply: If they had made it modular and toggleable(some elements) I think less would have issue with it...too bad they didn't go that route.

Some people cope by finding the good in everything, or they do such to be more optimistic......I tend to do the latter sometimes with some things.

Gog users: "Wow, Gog's 10th anniversary site redesign was a major catastrophe. I don't think anyone can mess up that badly."

Gaben: "Hold my beer. And this stack of donuts. Also the chocolate cake and the ice cream barrell. I guess I'll need both hands here."

I hate that I can't even play my steam games without having to use the gog Galaxy 2.0 client to do it, and the steam UI change also means, ironically, that's now the only way I *can* despite having a fairly impressive PC set up.

Ironically enough, I think Valve's willful incompetence and unwillingness to listen when customers (as well as the dumpster fire of how their moderators are blatantly lying to people about their being no such issues as their encountering) report an issue is going to benefit gog greatly.

Maybe we have a secret fan of Gog on the steam design team/admin team? One can hope.
