Currently Steam is down, or at least seriously hobbled by the huge number of people rushing to buy cheap games they will never actually play.

One unfortunate side effect of this is my Daughter can't play my SFS "shared" copy of CIV5.

She has had access to my 80 game steam library since I left the platform 3 years ago and has enjoyed mocking me over my No-Steam stance.

I feel so smug!
" Currently Steam is down"

Honestly , who cares ?

Unusually, it's almost all of steam that is dead.
Normally it's just a few parts.

Yet more proof that DRM is shite.
It's too bad they never publish their server stats, although neither does GOG.
But that must be a lot of people.

The deals aren't even that good this time around so I doubt this is what caused it. Could be some sort of attack...

2016 has claimed its final victim.
I'm sure that news of their untimely demise has been greatly exaggerated.
Last month I reactivated my long-dormant Steam account. And now this. Being disgruntled at gog AND not able to buy/redeem games on Steam. Wonderful way to end the year. First world problems, yo.

*grabs duster* Now where's that old Atari 2600.

That was my first thought too. If it was due to overload, it would have happened yesterday.

Per OP, your daughter should just be able to switch to offline and play. I have the family pc setup for offline and it works fine.
And this is why I'm using GOG alot more as of late... thanks for adding BRL currency!

Couldn't hurt gog or other outlets at all. In fact, I'm waiting for the 'gog insiders did it' memes.

Nope. She using her account (because it has her friend list) and CIV5 is my game. SFS games don't play if borrower is offline.
