Final Fantasy IX is actually the only FF game that can be played without Steam running in the background, i also deleted the Steam_api.dll files from both 32 and 64bit directories and the games works just fine.

I hope it stays that way, I'd definitely install steam just to download it.
Okay, finally updated! Sorry for the wait, guys.

Also, holy crapping crap, Final Fantasy IX is DRM-free? I wish I had bought that when it was on sale for $13 now.
Holy. I'm not sure if I believe this. A DRM-free Final Fantasy game on the butchered PC platform in the closed circle of Steam in 2016?

Don't say the word - there is a reason why you've changed the title of this thread. THEY are just waiting ... ;)

You know what? I was actually thinking about that as I typed that comment. :-P

You like to live dangerously too?

Last time I used Steam and DRM-free in one sentence in the german subforum didn't end well (with a link to this thread). ;)
Okay, pretty big update to the wiki: I added a new section listing all of the games that can be made to run without the Steam client by creating steam_appid.txt files. I'm pretty sure I worded it well, but if something seems off, just let me know. There are a few stragglers in the main list that should be in this new section, and I'll get those sorted later.

Heh, well, hopefully as long as it isn't in the title, we'll be okay. :P
It seems you can still play Sega Classics without Steam, but only with the old launcher. If you use the Game Room launcher without Steam, your library will appear empty.

Yeah, I was really disappointed to find this out. The Game Room program is so much nicer when using a controller.

Isn't that confirmation enough?

Ah, yes, it is. I don't know how I missed that; I apologize. :-( I've added it to the list.

That thread is dated. According to an earlier post in this very thread , Pillars of Eternity can run without the Steam client even on Windows.
