Sweet. If only I knew that sooner haha.
DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale will warn you that its Steam features (Achievements, Cloud, Leaderboards) can't be used if you try running it without the client, but will otherwise run perfectly fine. Tested on Windows 7 64-bit.

P.S.: In case you have happened to buy the game from ShinyLoot (from a Groupees bundle, for instance), I'd suggest you hurry up and take a look at your account, as Steam keys were very recently added there and the site will disable all downloads/Steam keys tomorrow, as it is shutting down as a digital store.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West runs perfectly fine from the exe without steam installed. I've tested it on Windows 7, 8 and 10. Given how blatantly DRM free this release is, it really pisses me off that Namco hasn't signed with GOG.

Batman: Arkham Asylum works without any tricks, all you need to do is include the command "-nosteam" in the shortcut. After first run it will the config tool and bitch that steam isn't running. However from the next time onwards it will simply load normally. You can't play the challenge maps however as they will simply crash the game.

If anyone has a solution for the challenge map crash I'd really like to know.

Try the steam_api.dll file from Rise of the Triad 2013. You shouldn't need the -nosteam command after that.

Many Unreal Engine 3 games are able to run using the -nosteam command but as you found out, they have their issues. Borderlands for example doesn't activate DLC without it.

I've seen steam files in GOG games before, but I just reinstalled my GOG copy of ROTTT 2013 and I have no steam_api.dll to try with.

I can confirm this. There is no steam_api in the actual GOG version of ROTT 2013. Maybe they changed it in an update?

Quite possibly, I did replace the installer not long ago.
Here is another bunch of Artifex Mundi Games which will work without steam by creating a little text file in the game directoy.

Eventide: Slavic Fable (create steam_appid.txt and enter 406870)
Vampire Legends: The True Story of Kisilova (create steam_appid.txt and enter 414660)
The Secret Order 2: Masked Intent (create steam_appid.txt and enter 399890)
Fairy Tale Mysteries (create steam_appid.txt and enter 429600)

Tested on Win7/64
Thanks for all the research, guys! I'll be updating soon (I've been out of town this weekend).

EDIT: Okay, the list is updated. As for the games that work after making a text file with the Steam ID, I think I'm going to work on creating a new section on the wiki page for those.
