Ganni1987: What if you run it with a steam_api.dll from a known DRM-Free game? Divinity: OS and Rise of the Triad 2013 are 2 examples.
I've tried this with other games (i.e., not Darksiders), and it didn't work for me; I think the client is tied to the .exe file. If it works with other games, though, I'd love to know which ones. That'd be a hell of a find.

Batman Arkham Asylum is one of them :-)

Many of the early titles on Steam may work, most of the new ones are tied directly to the exe.

Wow, I wonder if that has anything to do with the Steamworks-from-GFWL conversion. Either way, it's awesome.
Tested Win 8.1

Bit Blaster XL
Elliot Quest
One Ship Two Ship Redshift Blueshift
Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt
Taimumari
Awesome, I'll add these new games soon. Also, I can confirm that Firewatch (tested in Windows 10) is DRM-free; it'll start Steam if its installed, but if you rename or delete Steam.exe, the game will launch without a problem.
Sinking Island

Tested on Windows 7
After I read on the list that Undertale is runnable without steam I just finally managed to get the steam version of it. So I was a bit worried when I got an error message after starting it without steam. But it really is runnable without steam. All you need to do is rename or delete the steam_api.dll in the game folder. This should be added to the list as well to avoid further confusion.
Okay, guys, we're all caught up again. Sorry that took so long; my wife and I are in the middle of a stressful move, and we have pretty poor Internet right now, but I was able to get everything updated just now, including the extra Undertale information.

It ended up being really, really good. My wife was the one who was dying to play it, but I sat along for the ride, and I was really impressed. The little bonus after the game ends is fantastic, too.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. :) We're moved to the general area now, but there are some complications. Nothing that won't be overcome soon enough; I just don't like being blindsided with big stuff like this. :P

Indeed it was,i didn't expect to see those in the credits. :D

I liked the game a lot too, great voice acting, music and general atmosphere,a welcome change of pace compared to the games i'm playing in this period.
Thank you for the great list!

I would like to recommend Ghost Pirates of Voojoo Island. On my computer it worked without Steam, the game started flawlessly just by clicking on its icon.
But reportedly the game has some problem with Windows 7 and more recent OSs, I tested only on Windows XP.
The Ables: Freepoint High (early Access) works without Steam

Tested it under PoL works without steam
