I have been facing the same issue like its the third time and whenever I update my deck it just gets crashed and its really frustrating for me as i waited months for my Steam Deck and and now this is happening

Factory Reset. It shouldn't lose your games or anything. In gaming mode, go to settings, system, Factory reset. Without more details my answer will be Factory Reset, then Reimage if that doesn't work.

According to first tests it's very good, both the higher resolution display and the power outmatch the Steam Deck, depending on the model you can have about 5 times more power than the Steam Deck. Also the cooling system is great, works much better.
But currently the software still has flaws, sometimes SD cards don't get recognized after a while or a game gets detected multiple times by the UI.

Of course Windows is not designed for such small screens. Microsoft working on a UI designed for handhelds, but it will take some time. Until then third party software is better than links on the desktop. A possible solution might be to set the desktop to a lower resolution and use Full HD only for games. Also the battery life is not as high, that's the tradeoff if you have more power.
Make sure to also check out the GPD Win 4, which is currently available and on a similar quality level.

A workaround for small screen sizes and high resolution might be to use a remote session software like AnyDesk or TeamViewer (free edition). You use your PC to set up your handheld remotely and only use it for playing.


I'm waiting for the Aya Neo Slide, which has about the same tech specs as the Asus ROG, but the sticks seem to be higher quality than those of Steam Deck and Asus ROG. Like the GPD Win 4 it has a full keyboard under the screen. Additionally the screen can be tilted up (45° I think), so you can lay the handheld on the table and play mouse games or type.

The inbuilt keyboard seems nice but I wouldn't want to be without trackpads on a handheld I think. It seems the Aye Neo Next II is going to have those. No backtriggers either. Lots of models coming out, sheesh. Good to see though, everyone can find their own device that suits their own purposes best.

Dunno. Sound like a nice gimmick. I can immagine they help with the precision in shooters, but those on the PC I play with keyboard/mouse. I got a Steam Controller somewhere in my basement, never got around to actually use pads they used for itm, but instead I returned to classic gamepads (I love the EasySMX ESM-9110 btw, finally a good replacement for the XBox360 gamepad).
I don't intend to play strategy games on such a small screen anyway, ScummVM supports touch screen and for point & click I would put the handheld on the table anyway with the screen fliped up and maybe a small mouse connected.

What I also like on the other handhelds, is that they feature an asymetric design like the XBox controllers have. I always found this more comfortable than the symmetrical PS-layout. I guess it depends, if the games one plays need the right stick more or the buttons.

But sure, for those who want trackpads, currently has no alternative to the Steamdeck.

Which (if any) of those handheld "gaming PCs" have user-replaceable batteries? Preferably using common batteries that you don't have to buy from the device manufacturer overprices, but from generic battery stores (third-party batteries)?

I like how e.g. 8bitdo designed their wireless gamepads: the user can easily remove and replace the battery, and even use generic batteries instead, if needed. Yes yes, I know those handhelds use much more power so using generic batteries is probably not an option, but still, the ability to replace the batteries, at least so that they are not glued to the system or some weird shit like that, Apple-style.
