Since I got "No Joy" on the existing "Stasis" thread, I decided to start my own thread on "stasis Saves".

Love this game but I opened it up today and it restarted from the beginning. I was all the way up to the 5rd floor med center where all the experimental subjects are and I shocked the robot. Then today for no reason I can think of it restarted. I'm not sure I want to play the whole thing over just to have it fail again

I noticed at the beginning of the game that the "Save Feature" didn't seem to work. I didn't really care because it always would start quickly at the place it ended previously. But I haven't been able to find any saves, I have a feeling they are some how incorporated into the new GOG down loader.

Any same issue comments?

I can't see your post anywhere on the forum, have you tried posting in the Stasis subforum?

http://www.gog.com/forum/stasis#1447093693

The developers (Chris and Nic Bishop) have been answering to every problem and bug report etc so far and if you post your question over there, they'll see it. You can also email them directly and ask them to send you a save game which they'll gladly do.
I don't know if there are any other developers who keep such a close eye on the GOG subforums for their games, The Brotherhood is doing an unusually excellent job in that regard.
Just as a future tip, it's always a good idea to make some manual saves alongside autosaves, because you never know what might go wrong. At least make one at the end of every playing session, but more often might be handy.

I did post the same paragraph on the discussion thread. This site has a very active posting history and I couldn't pick the old thread out quickly , but that is neither here nor there. I like the game a lot. But the "Save" portion has never even really shown in my version of the game, much less allowed me to do a hard save. I'm not sure where the saves were going, I'll search the program folder again but I think my saves were some how incorporated with the new GOG down loader, as I said above.

Unfortunately the "Save Program" didn't seem to really exist in my version of the game, disallowing hard saves. Read above.

Heh, I came in here half-expecting to discover someone preaching about the redemptive powers of this game. =D

Oh I see, for some reason I thought that was also about the autosave being finicky. In that case, my apologies.

No game on GOG is made to require Galaxy (I'm assuming that's what you mean by "new downloader") for installing, launching, playing, saving, or any other basic game functionality. Also, there's no "cloud" saving with Galaxy, so even if you're using Galaxy to install and play your games, it's still doing "hard saves" somewhere on your computer.
I would suggest checking in C:\Users\[your Windows username]\Documents, ...\[username]\AppData\Local (and maybe ...\[username]\AppData\Roaming), or possibly ...\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore -- though games should only save there if you installed them to one of the Program Files directories.

Galaxy may well turn out to be the culprit with your problem, but only because it's still glitchy beta software, not because it's somehow tied into Stasis' savegame system.

They have relegated me to another thread with no replies so I'll cross post:

Wow, this sure has turned into a hassle. I finally found a semblance of Stasis under X86 Program file and the "Galaxie Client. There is a folder named "Stasis" But the "Saves", I have 7 of them, will not launch when pointed to The Icon that says "Stasis" or the icon that says "Launch STASIS" I'm not sure how they got pointed away from the game in the first place, but they do not want to point or load. Or have I even found the actual program? As I stated at first it was the only one contained in the download client "Galaxy" from GOG. The rest of the games from GOG are indipendant.

When I downloaded "Galaxy" it gave me no choice on this game but to down load it through Galaxy. It said Try me. I did, I don't think your going to get a positive review.

If you don't want to use Galaxy, you don't have to -- in the future, just download a game via your web browser by clicking the 'Account' tab near the top of the browser window from any page on the GOG site; this will take you to your library, where you can click the game's box on your virtual shelf, which will expand into a list of any and all game files (as well as any bonuses like soundtracks or wallpapers) available to download for that game. Just download all the files for the game itself (the ones on the left side), run the setup file (or first one, if there are more than one), and you're good to go. Actually, even if you've installed via Galaxy, you don't actually have to use it to launch the game -- you can create a desktop shortcut (either manually or, I believe, by ticking an option in Galaxy) and never bother with the client again afterwards.

In this case, though, since you've already installed this game via Galaxy, and it seems to have misplaced your save file(s), I'd recommend posting about your problem in this topic, which is the official Galaxy client beta test thread. Someone there has likely already experienced something like this before, and maybe can help you more. (I don't own Stasis and I've never touched Galaxy, so I'm about at the end of my usefulness here. :) ) And if this is a Galaxy problem (as opposed to a Stasis glitch or something else) and no one's reported it before, you can actually help them eliminate this issue in future iterations of the client. That's why it's an open beta, so this kinda thing can get fixed for the final release. : )

EDIT: Contacting Support might also be helpful.

In that case the game becomes unplayable. I discovered 5 saves but they are incorporated in GOG Galaxy and in my library there is still no link to download a clean copy of Stasis. When selected the only download for stasis is Gogalaxy.

If you do it through Galaxy, yes, that will be the only option immediately visible; I was talking about your library as viewed through a browser such as Firefox. (You CAN still download standalone game installers and extras via some sub-menu in Galaxy, but I don't recall the details.) And, again, I would strongly recommend you at least post about this in the Galaxy beta topic I linked above, if you are for some reason hesitant to contact Support.

Anyway, attached is a step-by-step picture tutorial for downloading & running an installer (I used Neverwinter Nights Diamond as the example since I don't have Stasis). Again, THESE INSTRUCTIONS ONLY MAKE SENSE IF YOU ARE DOING THIS THROUGH YOUR BROWSER, NOT GALAXY. The last steps involve finding your file in Windows Explorer, though in most browsers, you should just be able to access the setup executable directly via your Downloads center in your browser (in Firefox, the shortcut is Ctrl + J; I don't know about other browsers).

Hope this helps in the future.

Thank you but I've got 30 years of moving files around, a Game is supposed to be fun...I don't usually have to work this hard at it.

I'm cross posting:

A disappointing showing for GOG
Now I've discovered ALL of the games I've bought, a considerable amount are linked ONLY to GOG Galaxy.
Found a somewhat obscure link under a drop down menu, Trying to get a clean copy.
As a general rule I don't configure Gaming Files. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. Thank you GOG.

OK, I went to the trouble of clearing most of the files created by GOG Galaxy, it doesn't do a very clean uninstall. Then downloaded a clean stand alone copy of STASIS. I have the old files in their original folder on my desktop. I'll hunt for a folder in the new game to place the old bookmarks. Unless of course you'd like to chime in with the proper folder.

No such luck, although with the clean install the "Save and Reload" portion of the game appears to function now, there doesn't seem to be a way to incorporate the old "Bookmarks" into the new game.
