Perhaps it's part of the nostalgia but i rather have the 8/16 bits look (yes, even in this oversaturated market) on this type of games than the one used on this game, looks like a flash game.

jcosmocohen: Arcen Games just released their latest game, Starward Rogue, and according to a developer on Rock Paper Shotgun, GOG initially rejected it but let them know if they have a strong launch or we show interest in it, we'll get it here.

So let GOG know! I'd love to buy it here as I'm a huge fan of Arcen games in general.

Here's a link to the wishlist, too: Starward Rogue
Definitely voted! C'mon GOG, you have so many Arcen Games you should get the rest!

The videos look pretty cool! Also, do you know if the game is compatible with Avast Antivirus? I know some of Arcen games in the past have had conflicts with it for some reason.

But I do hope that GOG can get the game. Roguelites are always fun! :P

I don't know but I think the conflicts probably were cause of the inbuilt optional updater but you can always make an exception in the programs list in the antivirus/internet security.

Was the updater a standalone exe file, or was it built into the main binary of the game?

You can find the updater under UDA file but it looks its built in since the exe there is only for the package unpacking program.

Yeah I wish Arcen Games would change their updater so it wasn't trip Avast all the time. :P

Just make a filter for every Arcen game and that's it. Unfortunately Avast is known for a lot of these alarms. I know I used it several years.
I think it was avast that I stopped using because I got so sick and tired of the false positives. I had to exclude everything with gog like download folder and install folders. I switched to Panda Free, and I have win 10.

Matruchus: Ah, I see.
You have access to their updater on the GOG version right? I seem to remember updating AI War that way.

Yes its an optional updater. The game notifies you of an update and you can update it or not. This is valid for Ai War and The last Federation. Probably for Bionic Dues too.

From the comments I thought that withheld updates from GOG or something.

No, gog just doesn't seem to have the game with all the patches included yet when you download it. This is what the person was complaining about.
