I just updated Windows on my laptop and i went to play Elder Scrolls Oblivion and it says that
"Essential components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing. Please reinstall the application"
but when I go to re download it off the website it says I already have it installed. I don't know what to do. I'm just trying to play Oblivion. Please help.

Galaxy is optional.
So you can play most games without it (some games need Galaxy for multiplayer).
Downloading offline installers means you will be able to install the game at a later date again, if the need arise, with no need to go online.


BTW how did you install Galaxy and since when are you having this problem?

Sorry to keep bothering you, but when I try the offline installer it says that the "File could not be located in the installer's folder." What do I do? This problem started an hour ago, I was playing Oblivion earlier today but then I restarted my computer to update windows and now it doesn't want to play and it says Galaxy is missing important components

Looks like there are multiple installer files for this game. You need to donwload all of them, have them in same folder, and then run the exe to install.

Perhaps the windows update had something to do with it, but hard to say for sure. Maybe the more technically sound users can offer better solutions.
One thing is that you can still play your oblivion installation without redownloading. Try going to the folder it is installed and run the required .exe file (I, unfortunately don't have Oblivion and can't say which one).

EDIT: Still, having offline installers downloaded is a smart choice.
