Hi,

When you install a game with gog galaxy, you have a shortcut on the desktop that launch the galaxy client and you have to click on launch game. Is there an option like /start or anything that start gog galaxy and launch the game directly?

I usually launch the exe directly in the game directory but I like unseless stuff like achievements, and I can't beleve that's not possible (even if I found nothing on my research yet)
Since I don't use Galaxy, I don't really know how it works, but there should be an option to create a shortcut to each game from within Galaxy. That shortcut should then open the game via Galaxy.
It's entirely possible. In fact, if I understand what you're asking, that's already the way the start menu shortcuts for Galaxy-installed games work. They use an installed protocol handler to invisibly launch Galaxy (if it's not already running), telling Galaxy to immediately start the game, so it's almost exactly like launching the game directly but all the Galaxy features work. I'll check up on the details when I get home.
Target : "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe" /command=runGame /gameId=1433856545 /path="C:\GOG Games\Victor Vran"

Start In : "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy"

This is an example of a GOG Galaxy shortcut that launches the client and then launches the game (similar to how Steam shortcuts work).

Galaxy used to do this on installing a game that had Galaxy features, but the last game I installed created a normal shortcut and the one before didn't create any so it's possible they don't now.

Obviously you need to change the path to where ever your game is installed and the game id to the id of whatever game you are launching (I recommend searching here to find it; https://gogdb.yepoleb.me/products) but that should do the trick.
Well when I try to launch the witcher 3 it opens Galaxy client at the Witcher 3 page but don't launch the game

the shortcut created by galaxy is
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /gameId=1495134320 /command=launch /path="F:\Jeux\Gog\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY"

If you change command to runGame instead of launch that might do the trick.

No problem, glad to help :)
Or you can just copy the shortcut from the game folder under Galaxy which already includes game and Galaxy launch when you click on it.

Edit: Ignore my comment. It seems Witcher 3 is the only game that doesnt have a launch icon already made. Though the above is valid for all the other gog games.

Is there any way to use this method to start a game directly through a link that's part of a GOG compilation yet doesn't have its own ID number? For instance, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack comes with the main game (Alpha Centauri) and the expansion (Alien Crossfire), but there's only one GOG ID and library entry for the pack. There's a separate launcher and .exe for both the main game and the expansion in the installed files, but if you go directly through GOG Galaxy, you can only launch the expansion by going to the main SMAC page and clicking "More --> Other --> Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire." There are a few other games like this (Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest is another).

I've been able to create a desktop shortcut to launch Alpha Centauri through the Galaxy client, but I can't figure out how to do the same for Alien Crossfire since it lacks a separate ID. Any thoughts?

Not really... I'm not sure GOG will have made shortcut commands for options like that (even though it would make sense to).
You could try messaging Johny or one of the other Galaxy Devs and asking if there is an alternative.
Sorry.

Yeah, when I use Galaxy to install a game this is what I do as well. Go to the game folder, send the .exe to desktop as a shortcut. Annoying you have to do that but hey, you could always use the non-Galaxy installer.

So, were there any answer? Cause it is ridiculous, steam launch games from shortcuts, but gog open launcher window and then may be the game. Well, you can open games from launcher directly anyway, but then why there are shortcuts...

Thanks A LOT, this issue was driving me a bit insane as I tried to understand what happened between my first few couple of plays and realising that the OVERLAY wasn't working anymore for some reason.

This solved all my issues !

Hopefully this helps other people having similar issues.

The game for me was Baldur's Gate 3.
The ico files have the Game ID
