I just think it's fishy.

On one hand Disney & Co praises KOTOR as awesome, and yet they want to change everything. And if they are deconstructing the whole thing, why not make a proper new game? that would attract significantly more buyers than a remake. To me this falls in line with Disney's drive to "correct" past glories through contemporary political correctness and equity-blah. I understand improving the technical parts, like UI, controls and similar, but when they start changing the story, characters and dialogues I get suspicious.

It all falls in line with the idea that they want to destroy franchises they never truly loved. Hence, why the new trilogy sequels sucked ass and anything after that turned into garbage. When you create something for a majority, you end up creating nothing at all because you'll be too busy pleasing everybody.

I personally think if they actually tried to appeal to the majority they'd produce decent games. What they seem to be appealing to is twitter degeneracy which they think is the majority. Most of the recent 'reboot' and 'modernized' games and movies are getting bad reviews.

But it could be very similar, to please the old fans/etc, while also adding new elements/aspects to please potential new fans. To me, that'd be a good way to go with it.

Of course, a number of AAA game companies care(or seem to care) more about how to squeeze the most profit and sales out of their new games rather than making them fun/playable/moddable for a long time to come, so I wonder where this will all head.....

They probably hired her for woke signaling points on social media and etc....i.e. online buzz.....and so they can make a game that doesn't get them any text based backlash on said sites and elsewhere around the net.

Well with that individual on staff, I think it's a safe bet that they'll inject(or try to inject) some of that nonsense into the game(like what is/was being done for VTMB2). Hopefully i'm wrong, though.

Addition on the tutorials: I felt the first game's one was decent enough, but yeah......it was a bit "dry" in spots. The one for KOTOR2 (an entire area, i.e. Peragus), however, was quite good/enjoyable.
(I also liked the prelude with the droid on the drifting ship, albeit to a slightly lesser degree)

If they are rewriting the story I hope they don't screw it up, we'll see...
I hope a good game comes out of this but I think It would've been much better if they just make a new story set in Old Republic era, I guess that's too much work.

GreasyDogMeat: For those looking for the next best thing to KoTOR III I'd recommend The Old Republic.

I've avoided it for a long time... because I hate MMORPGs, EA & modern BioWare... but I finally gave it a shot and I'm honestly shocked at how good it is for free players and as a single player experience. Every mission has dialogue, well acted too, decent story, no contact with other players required, no grinding required and other positives. It's not as connected to the previous games as KoTOR II was connected to KoTOR I, but there are a number of references and connections.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer a proper KoTOR III, but I don't see it happening. If it does happen it will be... 'modernized' trash.

MysterD: See, the thing is: when a game's online-only and you can play through the game solo no problem - then it shouldn't even have the online requirements. At that point, the online-only factor is basically DRM and/or doing data-mining.

The best thing would be for SW: TOR to get re-worked w/ an offline mode w/ bots, AI, etc - and we can properly play the game w/out being tethered to the Net.

I'd love for that to happen to The Secret World and Secret World Legends, too.

Trent Oster (one of the BioWare founders and also a founder at BeamDog) had pitched for KOTOR: Reforged Collection, which sounds like it was either a KOTOR 1 & 2 Remaster or Remake, but LucasArts rejected this.

Eh, if it was someone on the original team(from Bioware) who was just with Beamdog at some point(and not actually beamdog making it) then there's a chance it might've been good.....and likely better than what this will probably end up becoming.

She(sam) will likely still be asked for her input on various aspects of the game, and her leanings/stances on certain things will likely influence the input she provides.
