tinyE: ,

I'd like to finish the life size replica of R2-D2 I am carving out of cheese before the end of the week.

morolf: That could be the plot for a horror movie when that thing comes alive and starts trying to kill you.

Breja: Great news- Mark Hamill hates the way Luke is written in The Last Jedi :P

So much for basically the only thing I was looking forward to in the new movie.
Dude that's Gizmodo, and they along with Kotaku and io9 are Yellow Journalism incarnate,

Looks evil...please be careful when you're around it!

Wolfehunter: I have mixed feelings about these new SW from JJ. At least his SW is better than his alternate ST universe nonsense.
You're kidding, right? Force Awakens is his worst movie by quite a margin.

morolf: it's depressing when adults obsess over something like this.
Still not nearly as sad and pathetic as people hanging out on a game store forum to tell others how their hobby is dumb like playground bullies.

I seem to have touched a nerve.
Look, it's none of my business how you spend your leisure time, and in moderation it's totally fine to play games, watch Star wars etc. But sorry, at some point it does become a problem imo if you're an adult and your main interests are games, comics or other nerd stuff...simply because time spent on those things is time you could have used for other pursuits that might also be fun, but tell you something about the real world. Like reading about history, biology, the major religions or acquiring some skill like programming or playing a musical instrument.
I can understand the desire for escapism, the world is pretty depressing as it is, and I engage in escapist fantasies and gaming myself from time to time. But still, if one's entire life is centred around such pursuits (and I don't mean to imply you or tinyE are like that...I don't know you in real life after all), that's pretty sad imo.

Well then, I'm happy to be sad. I started to write a whole essay here about escapism, fiction, hobbies, culture, pursuit of happines, you know - life, universe and all that stuff. But ultimately... why waste time trying to justify anything to you? That truly is time that I could spend better.

In the end, you're entitled to think whatever you want of "the nerds", but no matter how right you might be (and you really, really aren't), showing up just to tell people how sad they are just makes you a jerk.
I'll leave with this little piece of wisdom from a fellow nerd.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently, I can see how I might have come across as a bit mean. But I still think the whole Star wars cult is pretty weird...I've enjoyed Star wars games myself (really like the Jedi Knight games), but as a fictional universe Star wars is nothing special imo, it's just a black-and-white fairytale. And then there are all those 40+ old people who are totally obsessed about the thing because they saw those movies as kids, and I just find that pretty strange.
But anyway, I think deep down you know that I'm at least partially right...but it's ok if you don't want to admit that.
This just in - Last Jedi Officialy a Crappy Remake of Empire Strikes Back, And No One Gives A Fuck Because It Will Make a Billion Dollars Anyway

anothername: Just one title after "Return of the Jedi" we are at "The Last Jedi"? Well... that went fast :P
It's not suprising, there can't be the same number of them for more than 1 episode.

I: Jedi
II: Jedi then less Jedi
III: Less Jedi then no Jedi
IV: No Jedi then a Jedi
V: A Jedi
VI: A jedi then more Jedi
VII: More Jedi

So naturally:

VIII: Less Jedi?
IX: No Jedi?
X: More Jedi?
The new trailer just premiered.

Did Kylo Ren have any facial injuries at the end of VII? He has some weird thing on the right side of his face now.

And EVERYONE is wearing black. :P
Shweet, and yeah Tiny he did get cut in the face by Rey. I'm hoping this new star wars only gets better with the story picking up.

Here's a link if anyone wants.

darth daddyissues was the only downside to the refirst Star Wars for me. he just has no... I just don't buy him as the big bad. there seems no weight to his person. no gravitas. no perspective. he's no enforcer type so he must have a mind. but it's not really there. now you can say, well, he's young. it's some coming of age crap or something. sure, but there should be glimmers of it even in that case. and there isn't. I get that he's tall. I get he's got this sort phantom of the opera dark complexion handsome guy thing going on. but there's nothing in there that says he's a guy going around swinging a deadly laser sword and commanding legions to bring about... something... instead of just playing piano. he was the weak spot of the film.

and I still hate the stupid sword. seems like they got rid of that shit.

I'm hyped. I can't wait to see Mark Hamil. I've also seen multiple youtube clips where he expressed his grievances with the way the characters form the original trilogy are being handled. But still... it's Luke. I can't wait.

Just a funny thing, I was so baffled that I had to re-listen to the line Snoke says 3 times, as I miss-understood him saying: "for Phil"... WHAT!!!? He was saying "fulfill".

MadalinStroe: I miss-understood him saying: "for Phil"... WHAT!!!? He was saying "fulfill".
I wish Phil was in this. I don't know who he is, but I'm still sure he'd be a better protagonist then Rey, who of course had to turn out to be the most super-duper powerful Jedi ever, next to Kylo and Anakin. Is this a rule in the SW universe? The less charisma and screen presence you have the more powerful you are?

Anyway, the trailer has a lot of cool, epic shots, but it doesn't really tell me anything new. I'm still expecting an Empire remake, and I kinda hate the way the future of the Star Wars galaxy turned out, with the Republic sucking ass, Luke being a devastated exile, Han having gone back to smugling and then getting killed by Darth Manchild.

Oh, and is it just me or does Chewie just look really weird in that one shot we see of him?
