jamyskis: I suspect the ambiguity of whether the "Last Jedi" is singular or plural is deliberate, especially given that none of the international names have been announced yet (the international names for The Force Awakens were released more or less at the same time as the original title).

As soon as the international titles become available, so too will it become apparent whether one or more is meant (In German: "Der letzte Jedi" as singular, "Die letzten Jedi" as plural).
Leave it to jamyskis for the best answer and the best avatar.

And now we know it is indeed plural after all. Hopefuly, that means Luke won't bite the dust just yet.

Episode VII just didn't work for me, but I'll still try to be hopeful for VIII. If anything I hope we get to see more of some of the cool parts, like the whappity whap trooper. Or just some interesting locations. I'd love to see Cloud City again in a Star Wars film, if only briefly. Episode V and that one level in Jedi Knight II : Jedi Outcast wasn't nearly enough.

Great news- Mark Hamill hates the way Luke is written in The Last Jedi :P

So much for basically the only thing I was looking forward to in the new movie.

Yeah, well, and maybe he means that, but he's obligated to say that either way. In fact, I'm surprised how forward he was about what he didn't like. Usually actors don't allowe themselves to say anything negative about a movie untill well after it's cinema run is done. Shows how much he cares about the character and how strongly he feels about the problems.

Only VII was JJ. They are switching directors for every movie, at least that's the plan. Worked for the original trilogy.

I agree. And it's even worse with Star wars imo (Star Trek at least presented an idealistic vision of society). Star wars is just a dumb fairytale, it's depressing when adults obsess over something like this.
