tinyE: There are TONS of them.

Maighstir: I'm sure your knowledge about those is greater than mine, so I'll take your word for it.
Of you hadn't a gf in over 20 years you'd know all about it too. :P
avatar
Breja: At which point I give up on the series entirely. I have zero interest in a movie with no one but the Unambiguously Bland Duo of Ray and Finn as protagonists.
avatar
tinyE: Come off it Breja, the 1st place you'll wind up when you get the States is my B&B where we'll hang out all night watching all of them on BluRay. :P
Hopefuly true :) But it doesn't change anything- there is probably no movie so bad I wouldn't have fun with it in good company :D

tinyE: I don't give a shit what anyone says, I'm excited and can't wait to go see it! :D

And I think it's been a given that they were planning on phasing out the old cast. There is no way Luke survives this movie.
The inclusion of the old cast in TFA was jarring and unnecessary fan service, imho. I'm particularly including the Millennium Falcon and Chewbacca in this criticism as they appear to be permanent fixtures for future films too. There's an entire galaxy (far, far away) filled with potentially cool characters, sidekicks and ship designs!

Han felt a bit forced, but I loved seeing the Falcon and the end with the glimpse of Luke and Rey still gets me emotional.

I like the inclusion of the old cast. Besides, the story is about them. If an entirely new standalone plot surfaced in the same universe but with no ties to the established characters or canon, audiences wouldn't care. It would be like making a Star Trek film about only Ferengi amassing wealth, or a film series set in Middle Earth about a subgroup of Uruk-hai and their personal struggles. Not all fan-fiction deserves film treatment.

I kinda feel you there. All the Jedi masters buried, all the Sith lords kinda lame - you feel deprived. I like the "Old Republic" better.

Haven't been able to find one thus far, I guess Star Wars isn't among my fetishes.

Rey, maaaaybe. But Finn was great.
avatar
RWarehall: Jedi can be plural, so hard to say, but wouldn't be surprised if they kill Luke off.
avatar
Ixamyakxim: Okay I have to cry foul here. That'd be SO lame if blah blah blah killed BOTH yadda yadda yadda AND Luke.

I mean come on, are there going to be deleted scenes where he also feeds Leia her last bacon triple cheeseburger with a bag of coke and handle of Jack too?

...

Too soon?
I got something that will top that off.

On a more serious note, I really hope they rethink the title.

"A bit"? Seeing old Harrison in his old role, always playing the same old tricks (Seriously, after all his character development in the trilogy, Han is STILL a 2 bits hustling loser/loner crippled with debts? C'mon!)... I liked the movie despite its big tempo problem, but Solo was... painful.
low rated

Must be fun that parallel universe you come from. Unfortunately in this one he was a boring, bland cardboard cutout of a character with all the charisma of melted ice cream.

I thought Ford was quite good, it's just that the role sucked. I wish we could have gotten Solo as the head of Republic Intelligence or something like that, working under President Calrissian.

Where the hell is Lando!?

No offense to the man, he's a great actor, but I know damn well Billy Dee will take any job offered him.

Last Jedi? So Skywalker hasn't managed to train more of them in the new movies? What's he been doing for the last 30 years?

Did you or did you not watch Episode VII?

He did, or at least tried, and his prize pupil turned on him so he went into seclusion.
