Breja: Ok, this isn't exactly about the Last Jedi, but about the Han Solo movie - am I the only one who feels really super weird about a new Star Wars movie coming out in just five months? And even weirder, there's been zero promotional material so for. No trailers, not even a teaser. Not even an official poster, or a single character photo. In fact, there's very little buzz about that movie at all, other than when the original directors got replaced and the production restarted. A Star Wars movie with this little hype is just so bizarre.
they have planned one a year, and so far are sticking to that. 2015 Ep7, 2016 Rogue One, 2017 EpVII, 2018 Han.

What feels weird about this is how screwed up the production has been. Cast changed 75% through filming not to mention several director changes with Ron Howard finally taking over when the movie was already virtually filmed.

This could be VERY VERY VERY ugly. :P

I knew about the director, but I thought the cast (at least the main cast) was still the same?

And yeah, I know they had this "one a year" plan, but so far that also meant year apart. Five months is super fast. Kinda feels too fast for me. The waiting is part of what makes it an event. Maybe it also feel so weird to me, because for six years now (first with The Hobbit movies and than SW) I had this tradition of December having this big fantasy epic to go see with friends. And in 2018 that will be... Aquaman? I mean, I'm actually really looking forward to the Aquaman movie, but having that be the big December thing sounds almost crazy.

I made a prediction here as soon as it was announced (I can't find that post now) that this movie will be the turning point when Disney's SW start falling apart and everyone turns against them, like when people declared disco dead. We'll see if I was right.

One every year? So Disney basically turned Star Wars into a Call of Duty-type franchise.

Breaking NEWS: Big Corporation Milks Franchise to Death

Sorry, too soon? Oh, and: SPOILER...
>_>

Yes, I'm in that kind of mood again.
I stopped watching Star Wars movies since Attack of the Clones.

Have I been missing anything good?

Breja: about the Han Solo movie
I don't expect anything good about it.
Rogue One surprised me for being ok-ish instead of crap, but I guess that was an exception.
I wouldn't watch the next SW movies if it weren't for friends (but maybe they fed up with my critiques XD).

Rogue One was good. That's... pretty much it so far.

I said I loved all the movies, not all the characters. :P

Force Awakens is good, but nothing special. Rogue One is bad, but it can be interesting based on the novelty alone of seeing a "darker" Star Wars movie without Jedi. The Last Jedi is great, with some good shake ups to the franchise.

Yes you did. I just thought that Jar-Jar hurt Episode I too much for me to enjoy it. Or maybe it was the Pod Racing thing. Or Anakin building a protocol droid for his slave mom. Or adding the midi-chlorians into the universe just to bring the story closer to sci-fi...
But then again, I'm not a big Star Wars fan. I hated the Ewaks, that's how bad a person I am!

I'm glad you loved the movie. It had a few good bits, just not enough for me to enjoy it.
Also, some people like Jar-Jar.

THE POD RACING THING ROCKED! YOU'RE NUTS! :P

Small theater, surround sound, right up close to the screen. That was orgasmic.

I missed it at the theatre. Luckily a friend later lent me a CD with a poorly compressed small-image (cam copy?) version of the film. And let me tell you the Pod racing part did not have the same effect on me, for some strange reason.

Pod Racer is also the best Star Wars game ever released....IMHO.
