Snowflakez: OK movie, overall. Nothing special.
I liked Bladerunner 2049 (I know, I know...) and even its original more than this
Both Blade Runners are absolute masterpieces that not even the original Star Wars trilogy comes close to, not to even mention this one.
Snowflakez: As far as the former goes, it drove me nuts that Rose -- who has essentially just fuckin' met this guy -- is trying to prevent Finn from potentially saving the remaining rebels. As Finn sped towards the cannon, I was cheering inside. A heroic sacrifice that serves a purpose - he's resigned himself to his fate, he's ready to die for the cause...
BUT WAIT. Ultra-Forced-Love-Interest is here to save the day.
Yes, Fin would have most likely died if Rose hadn't done what she did (Though I don't buy that he couldn't have just jumped out and survived, given the fact that another speeder crashed into him at high speed and he was just fine, if a bit bruised up), but the cannon would be destroyed, eliminating the biggest present threat
That was probably the scene I hated the most in the entire movie. Everything you already mentioned + two things. First, ramming her fighter into his at full speed was just as likely to kill him, so it was the most retarded way to save someone I can imagine. Second, if Luke didn't show up, and she didn't know he would, she would have "saved" Finn for about five minutes, becasue thanks to her they were all about to fucking die.
I absolutely hate Rose. She was annoying and useless before that scene, and with that scene she became the Jar Jar Binks of this trilogy for me. I guess she was written in to appeal to fangirls :P
Snowflakez: As to the latter -- the Rei/Kylo romance (?) -- oh, hey, we're like connected and stuff, so let's love each other or something.
When the "shirtless Kylo" thing happened I just laughed and thought to myself "ok, great, we're officialy entering Twilight territory here".
dtgreene: One thing that I haven't seen addressed in this topic yet:
How's the music? Is it good like the original trilogy, is it just "there" like in TFA, or is it something like Rogue One, which sounds almost, but not quite familiar?
It's pretty much the "just there like in TFA" scenario. The only moments you really notice it is when it plays the classic music form the originals.
