Breja: Only that one in two halves. Probably minus the crystal given the "boom" when it broke.

tinyE: Right. I remember now because "building your own sabre" was a theme in the first movies. Vader mentions it to Luke in "Return" almost as if to signify is he now a real Jedi. I would assume she will have her own come IX and I'm curious what color it will be.
I just hope it's a normal sabre, whatever color and not some new bizarro thing with a buzzsaw blade, or light-nunchucks or whatever. I'd like to think that the rotating sabre-staff used as a helicopter in Rebels is the pinacle of silly and won't be topped.

Breja: There's more visual indications even more easily noticable - he's using the lightsabre we just saw get destroyed, and his beard and hair are different - he looks the way he did when Kylo last saw him.
The problem is that movie has already so many inconsitincies that noone can be sure what''s intentional hint and what is another screenplay nonsence.
Will we get an anthology movie about Luke Skywalker?
Watched it last week. Not a big Star Wars fan but I really enjoyed it. I fell asleep right before the fight with the emperor and his imperial guards and when I woke up, everybody was dead already. That really sucked, but those recliner chairs at the movie theater are very comfy. I wish I was asleep when princess Leia was floating in space... that was strange.

Going to see the movie again tomorrow morning.
Earlier I said, I had to let the movie sink in because it felt a bit odd to see what was happening in there and how the story of the movie evolved. The action and effects are awesome, but all around it, feels a bit out of place - like the "story" is there to be a vehicle to drive from one action scene to the next, to create a premise for an action scene - nothing more. It feels like they were thinking out scenes, yes this would be awesome, that would be awesome and then made a story up around it.

I found a vid on YouTube which pretty sums it up quite well and is funny as hell(for me at least). DO NOT WATCH THIS, if you have not seen the movie and think about seeing it, the vid is more than spoiler heavy.

This melon is rotting - meet Grumpy and how he does not want to save the dwarves, Shrek is useless, Finn forgets stuff a lot and Sykpe calls are In

Is your avatar from "Go With The Flow"?
I didn't follow the thread: too long and with too many arguments I dislike, especially in those last pages I glimpsed over.

Still, I'll leave this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOObd1s4hQc

Mark Hamill is the man.

Honestly they had so many ways to pull this off and make a good transition. Mark Hamill said what he could say about what he thinks of the new movies and his role without legal repercussions.

They just should have gone for the Rogue Squadron or for Kyle Kartarn. Good foundation, lots of story...but I guess heroes in the "old" sense are not good enough anymore.

Yeah, it's weird but the Jedi Knight games really do feel like much better sequels to the original trilogy than the new movies. Ah well, at least Rouge One was a better story about stealing the Death Star plans than the first Dark Forces :D

Yes Ma'am.
Just seen it, loved it.
OK movie, overall. Nothing special.

I liked Bladerunner 2049 (I know, I know...) and even its original more than this as far as sci-fi movies go, and I've read, played and seen better Star Wars stories in the past. Even the Boba Fett young adult "novels" exceeded this in terms of overall quality and character development.

Rose saving Finn was absolutely retarded and made no sense, and the Kylo/Rei love story (?) was equally as dumb.

As far as the former goes, it drove me nuts that Rose -- who has essentially just fuckin' met this guy -- is trying to prevent Finn from potentially saving the remaining rebels. As Finn sped towards the cannon, I was cheering inside. A heroic sacrifice that serves a purpose - he's resigned himself to his fate, he's ready to die for the cause...

BUT WAIT. Ultra-Forced-Love-Interest is here to save the day.

Yes, Fin would have most likely died if Rose hadn't done what she did (Though I don't buy that he couldn't have just jumped out and survived, given the fact that another speeder crashed into him at high speed and he was just fine, if a bit bruised up), but the cannon would be destroyed, eliminating the biggest present threat.

As to the latter -- the Rei/Kylo romance (?) -- oh, hey, we're like connected and stuff, so let's love each other or something.

OK, sure. Whatever you say. Just ignore the fact that you (Rei) spent the entire previous movie (And much of this movie) worrying about Finn's well-being and vice versa, developing a clear romantic relationship that actually makes fuckin' sense.

Dunno. Both romances in this movie felt cringey and forced as hell.

Romance subplots aside, the rest of the movie was alright. Not great, as I said, but alright. Lots of inconsistencies and shit that just doesn't make any sense, but I guess we just have to accept that for this trilogy.

Same old rehash, remake, rinse, and repeat is whats going on in Hollywood movies these days.

I don't even care about Star Wars anymore.

It's becoming the Call of Duty franchise of the Hollywood.

Every year they will plan to release a new Star Wars film.
Like everything else from Hollywood, it's a platform for feminist, leftist political statements. They butchered the story, including everything TFA established, and force the directors radical politics down your throat. I wouldn't even care if it was subtle like they used to do, now the resistance was completely female by the end. Beyond destroying the entire lore and story, they shit on Luke and it's just not even reasonable to have an army entirely made of women... just ridiculous. Even 50/50 would be fine even though it's not realistic, but I don't go to movies to be force-fed radical politics. Star Wars: Ghostbuster's edition

edit - In discussing all of the physics fails, the one thing not mentioned that really bothered me was the turbolaser shots arcing...

Romance in the movie? Yeah, I'll pass. I'm interested in a science fiction action movie, not some romance bullshit. I'm sick of Hollywood trying to merge different genres into one to make as much money as possible. I want to see space battles, light saber battles, the light side vs the dark side. I want to see the main characters grow into bad asses. I want to see villains terrorizing the galaxy. All the stuff that made the original Star Wars movies great. And the romance between Han and Leia was tolerable because it came very naturally and it was done in a way that wasn't obnoxious. Like it wasn't in your face so fast. And didn't take over the movie. So I'm willing to overlook that romance but other romances in movies. No way. None of my money for you, Last Jedi...
