kai2: Are you claiming Leia Organa isn't a strong female character?
StingingVelvet: Weird reply to what I said.
I'm not part of your culture war dude. There are some eyeroll moments in TLJ sure, but there are eyeroll moments in other things from the opposite end too. I don't participate in any of it, I don't get butthurt and take offense at such things. TLJ is a bad movie because of its dialog writing, plot and tonal inconsistencies with the two around it and it actively denying what fans wanted with a grin on its face. It has nothing to do with how "feminist" you think it is.
But Kai2 is welcome to thier opinion if it makes them happy (oh....it does not does it!) ;)
100% agree with what your saying here StingingVelvet. Because you know what, these films could have been 100% pure 'femi-nazi' propaganda AND been good (as in fun to watch) films IF they had coherent scripts and good directing and edititng.
Think about that for a second Bro-dudes people.
I would have hated them instead for being that femi-nazi propaganda film instead of Star Wars films, but as they currently stand, both the prequels AND the Disney films are just badly made films, they fail in many of the aspects that a good film requires to make it good, in purely technical non-political metrics.
Now part of that might well be down to the agenda-politics in Disney itself, or from Kennedy herself, but if you can't (Lucas with the prequels and Disney with New Star Wars) get the basics right on what makes good films, it does not really matter as much as some people seem keen to make out. In other words the problems with the prequels and Disney Star Wars is a fundemental technical film-making problem, more than any political issue.
