May the 4th come to GOG.com!

Star Wars Day™ is near, a time when the world comes together to celebrate the long, long history of a galaxy far, far away. And so it is, once again we combine forces with Lucasfilm and Disney to join in on upcoming May the 4th celebrations the way we know best: with new releases, a classic Digital Premiere, and peecha chakka no wookie boonowa tweepi Saleo. Ho, ho, ho, hooo.

What do we have in store this week?

-- Star Wars: Rebel Assault I & II - a new digital premiere. The famous live-action, FMV rail shooter returns - blast through the ranks of the Galactic Empire, revisit familiar movie locations, and experience the rebel assault. Both of the classic titles come in one DRM-free package for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux!

-- Collector's CD-ROM editions of: Star Wars™ X-Wing and Star Wars™ TIE-Fighter. The space-flight simulators finally become complete exclusively on GOG.com. The Collectors Edition, often considered the absolute re-release, combines upgraded graphics with the classic MUSE sound system, and a refined flight engine. It's a free upgrade to all of you that own it, and comes with every new purchase as well.

-- Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy now on GOG.com. Are these the best lightsaber swingin', force-pushin' simulators ever made? Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

-- Two big bundles, with every remaining Star Wars™ game on GOG.com:
Blaster Bundle - with 7 titles including the upgraded Star Wars X-Wing & TIE-Fighter series, and more Lucasfilm games brought back into the digital world from old CDs and dusty floppy disks.
Saber Bundle - with 10 games at a flat 77% off, including Star Wars Battlefront II, Knights of the Old Republic I & II, the two Dark Forces games, and our two new completely new releases: Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast & Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Grab your blaster, wield your saber, and celebrate the days counting down to May the 4th with us! The entire shebang will last until Thursday, May 7, 6:59 AM GMT.

Matruchus: Thanks for the explanation. I did not know that. When I played the game over a decade ago it was a standalone game separate from Dark Forces II which is probably what mixed me up.
avatar
yyahoo: It's an expansion that requires the original game; however, I do believe that there was a standalone demo specifically for it.
Yeah, I probably played the demo then. The demos made in the 90s were quite long so it probably got saved in my mind as a full game :)

I know what you mean. I think there were some full games that I bought back in the 90's where I didn't actually get any further in the game than the demo would have gotten me.
SO! FRIGGEN!!! GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! worth all caps and it is an understatement too!
I am interested in only two games (Jedi Outcast, Republic Commando) ... but these games together are already 12,38 €

But the Saber Bundle is tempting especially at this price (21,70 €). However I newer played these SW RPG games, so not sure about it.

* * *

Well, I was also hoping for some Shadows of the Empire, Episode I Racer and some other SW games ;)
But anyway, thank you GOG and Disney for such a nice releases and these bundles.

Zoidberg: Way to expensive for my tastes, besides I got some already on Steam and they don't all run really well, so...

At least Disney isn't pulling regionnal disparity in their pricing scheme (apparently), which makes them better than some indies in my book! :3

More SW on the catalog is nice though (original trilogy at least XP).

TrevorWilliams: Nice early May the Fourth celebration. Saber bundle price too good to resist.

Zoidberg: May the first you certainly mean. :P
the only game that doesnt play well on steam is dark force 2
Where can I find the CD versions of X-wind and Tie Fighter?
I already own the games on GoG but on the download list I can only see the original floppy or the 1998 special editions.

lanark: I was waiting for this, but the bundles/individual discounts are a little dissapointing. I like a 50% discount on Galactic Battlegrounds, but for that I must buy the complet Blaster Bundle (a whopping almost 40 bucks expense). Not too bad if I want all the games, but if I want only that one, I get a little 25% discount, not too much for a 5.99 game (I'll buy it anyway).

I would prefered more bundles with less games, that the two big ones featured.

Anyway, very good deal for anyone not having the most of the games.
Yeah, I'd rather have a mix 'n match bundle: pick any 8 SW games from both bundles for a set discount. Too many duplicate games in each bundle for me to buy either of them. There's about 4 in each bundle that I want, but I'm not willing to buy an entire bundle (or two bundles) to get them.

But thanks for the new releases and adding those CD versions of X-wing and Tie Fighter.
It's a great deal on that saber promo. I'd totally jump on it if I could! Hell, I'd trade for just some of those games if I had anything of value! Damn near a perfect bundle too.

Lets hope The sale extending for 3 days beyond the "holiday" means a new crop likely including The Force Unleashed will be released on the 4th as the sales finale.

I would buy something, but I think Ill at least wait till the end of the sale to see if there are any surprises. Personally the whole "bigger bundle discounts" thing is keeping me from buying anything now because personally I am not a huge star wars fan and at the present only KOTOR II and Battlefields really interest me.

Star wars fans, please take caution your eyes do not pop out of your skulls over these exceptional deals.
And thus, my wishlist finally reached 50 games. I'm never going to catch up with all that. So... Many... Games...

thebream: Thanks - thoguh I wouldve preferred not having to buy Starfiighter to complete the sabre bundle. Should've put that into the blaster pack.
GOG aren't stupid, those packs are specfically divided."Saber Bundle" is the "can buy cheaper elsewhere bundled and frequent sales, if you really wanted to" pack.

"Blaster Bundle" is the "Fairly recent GOG digital exclusive games you can't get anywhere else legally even if you tried" pack.

You can see then why Blaster has less of a discount % than Saber.
