May the 4th come to GOG.com!

Star Wars Day™ is near, a time when the world comes together to celebrate the long, long history of a galaxy far, far away. And so it is, once again we combine forces with Lucasfilm and Disney to join in on upcoming May the 4th celebrations the way we know best: with new releases, a classic Digital Premiere, and peecha chakka no wookie boonowa tweepi Saleo. Ho, ho, ho, hooo.

What do we have in store this week?

-- Star Wars: Rebel Assault I & II - a new digital premiere. The famous live-action, FMV rail shooter returns - blast through the ranks of the Galactic Empire, revisit familiar movie locations, and experience the rebel assault. Both of the classic titles come in one DRM-free package for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux!

-- Collector's CD-ROM editions of: Star Wars™ X-Wing and Star Wars™ TIE-Fighter. The space-flight simulators finally become complete exclusively on GOG.com. The Collectors Edition, often considered the absolute re-release, combines upgraded graphics with the classic MUSE sound system, and a refined flight engine. It's a free upgrade to all of you that own it, and comes with every new purchase as well.

-- Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy now on GOG.com. Are these the best lightsaber swingin', force-pushin' simulators ever made? Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

-- Two big bundles, with every remaining Star Wars™ game on GOG.com:
Blaster Bundle - with 7 titles including the upgraded Star Wars X-Wing & TIE-Fighter series, and more Lucasfilm games brought back into the digital world from old CDs and dusty floppy disks.
Saber Bundle - with 10 games at a flat 77% off, including Star Wars Battlefront II, Knights of the Old Republic I & II, the two Dark Forces games, and our two new completely new releases: Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast & Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Grab your blaster, wield your saber, and celebrate the days counting down to May the 4th with us! The entire shebang will last until Thursday, May 7, 6:59 AM GMT.

yyahoo: (...........)
Eitherway from all the Star Wars bundles on sale I wan't to buy only three games which means these kind of sales are lost on me totally. Hopefully Autumn Insomnia will include some bundle discounted separate Star Wars games.

Edit: Did buy Dark Forces 2 cause it still affordable at 50% off. Empire at War though is too expensive.

With all the Episode 1 to 3 talk, for those that haven't seen these yet:

Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace Review

Star Wars: Episode 2 Attack of the Clones Review

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith Review

The humor is a tad twisted at times and might not be for everyone. But the review portions of the videos are pretty good.

Eumismo: I recommend you to watch the movies in chronological order, beginning with Episode I and finishing with VI. I really love how the story is told along the six: it's just one story separated in six chapters. This is also how George Lucas intended them to be viewed. I think most of the hatred for the prequels is driven by nostalgia, because a lot of people watched the originals as a kid. But all people I know who watched the whole saga for the first time in chronological order really love them all and can't understand why people hate so much the new ones. I even like them more than the originals because I find them much more complex and with a more interesting plot overall.

Wathever the order of viewing you choose, you shouldn't skip Episode I because it has many interesting plot points. Some of them are not obvious the first time you watch it, but when you watch it again after knowing all the story you will probably notice them (and the same thing happens with episode II). I think you souldn't watch the saga in this order: IV-V-VI-I-II-III, because the whole story will seem anticlimathic. That machete order some people recommend (IV-V-I-II-III-VI) is better than that, but the best one for a newcomer, as I already told you, is I-II-III-IV-V-VI. Whatever one you choose, I wish you enjoy them :).
that's what I was up to first, watching it chronologically, but now it's even more confusing, the other variations like the machete order also sound reasonable^^
well, thank you, too, for your recommendation :)
Unfortunately the sales will be over by then I guess xd but the next opportunity is never out of reach^^
It's probably a bit more gripping to delve into the movie universe before finally enjoying all the games based
around it..

Telika: I suggest a simplification.

Watch IV, V and VI. That's all. And whenever they mention the past, just imagine it based on what they say. Not only the prequels are godawful, but they don't even fit the story anyway.
...seems like there is just no ultimate formula to watch it 'right' :o

I think I'll make the decision once the dvd collection lies in front of me x)
And to everyone who grabbed a nice deal from the promo : have fun :)

True, being a star wars fan does make these games better since I really enjoy the star wars universe :)

On a secondary note I may be on GOG too often. I just now, at 4pm mountain time, received the email letting me know about this sale. By now I have already bought myself a star wars bundle, downloaded star wars battlefront 2 and I am currently playing it before ever seeing the email!
WOW! What a sale!! Thanks GOG!

I don't know; they've never even been able to come close to fixing it. Go figure it's my favorite SW game. :P

You can help by not jinxing it.

I don't go for superstition thank you very much. XD
Do I have to play the previous Jedi Knight games to understand what's going on before playing Jedi Knight II or Jedi Academy?

I'm not entirely sure I would enjoy the games before those 2.

Yes. The dvd collection, and a hammer.
