May the 4th come to GOG.com!

Star Wars Day™ is near, a time when the world comes together to celebrate the long, long history of a galaxy far, far away. And so it is, once again we combine forces with Lucasfilm and Disney to join in on upcoming May the 4th celebrations the way we know best: with new releases, a classic Digital Premiere, and peecha chakka no wookie boonowa tweepi Saleo. Ho, ho, ho, hooo.

What do we have in store this week?

-- Star Wars: Rebel Assault I & II - a new digital premiere. The famous live-action, FMV rail shooter returns - blast through the ranks of the Galactic Empire, revisit familiar movie locations, and experience the rebel assault. Both of the classic titles come in one DRM-free package for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux!

-- Collector's CD-ROM editions of: Star Wars™ X-Wing and Star Wars™ TIE-Fighter. The space-flight simulators finally become complete exclusively on GOG.com. The Collectors Edition, often considered the absolute re-release, combines upgraded graphics with the classic MUSE sound system, and a refined flight engine. It's a free upgrade to all of you that own it, and comes with every new purchase as well.

-- Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy now on GOG.com. Are these the best lightsaber swingin', force-pushin' simulators ever made? Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

-- Two big bundles, with every remaining Star Wars™ game on GOG.com:
Blaster Bundle - with 7 titles including the upgraded Star Wars X-Wing & TIE-Fighter series, and more Lucasfilm games brought back into the digital world from old CDs and dusty floppy disks.
Saber Bundle - with 10 games at a flat 77% off, including Star Wars Battlefront II, Knights of the Old Republic I & II, the two Dark Forces games, and our two new completely new releases: Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast & Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Grab your blaster, wield your saber, and celebrate the days counting down to May the 4th with us! The entire shebang will last until Thursday, May 7, 6:59 AM GMT.

DreamedArtist: Oh god my wallet!
Hehe. That picture is always hilarious. ;)

This time my wallet is not in fear as all I'm getting is the newly added Rebel Assaults and the two JK games. Got everything else already as they got released. Still haven't played half of it. Silly me. Guess I just want to see more Lucas goodness on GOG... hopefully with a few other old Disney owned games for good measure, i.e. Tron 2.0.
Wow..so many Star Wars games...It's kind of staggering.
Some day I will manage to convince someone to look Star Wars movies with me, I have the feeling I missed something essential in life - I haven't seen any of it , shame on me! x) ...until then..Well nice to see a promo that will certainly please a lot of people out there^^
Don't mind if I do ;)
I'm gonna so rebel the crap out of the Empire. I never got to play the original Rebel Assault, except for the demo, but I've always loved the sequel. Sure, by today's standards what is practically not much more than a rail shooter may seem pretty weak but back in the day it blew my mind.

That shouldn't be too difficult.
If you do, it would be awesome if you could try out the "Machete order": Episode IV -> Episode V -> Episode II -> Episode III -> Episode VI
That's supposedly the best way to watch the series, and I always want to know what people who never saw Star Wars think about it.
No Force Unleashed? I was hoping we would get that for this sale

EDIT: Also the 2 LEGO Star Wars games

viranimus: Lets hope The sale extending for 3 days beyond the "holiday" means a new crop likely including The Force Unleashed will be released on the 4th as the sales finale.
avatar
IronArcturus: Is GOG really planning to release The Force Unleashed series?
I honestly do not know. I am unaware of any reason why they would not want to. Take it more as crossing fingers due to the fact they end the sale 3 days after May the 4th, instead of just ending it on May 5th, and speculating that to extend the sale till the weekend might be representative of a new round of releases.

So speculating based on circumstance.
I'll mostly likely grab the saber bundle but I'll hold off until later in the sale to see what surprises come up.

Yeah I think I will hold off until next week to see what comes up.

It's harder than you would expect^^
Why is it called like that? Thanks for the tip, always wondered about the right order to begin with. First thing you read when searching for it is something like IV, V, VI, I, II, III.
Never stumbled upon such a confusing way to look a movie series before :o
Maybe I can give a feedback when the long awaited time has come^^
Where's Force in your youtuber gally? More Force and SplatterCat please.

I too recommend the "Machete order". Thatas how I introduced my little brother to the series. I feel that gives you the original introduction to the world and then some background before the finale.
Someone on Slickdeals is asking if any of these games are compatible with the 360 Controller.

I'm guessing only through JoyToKey or similar converter?

Because the person who thought of it is "a vain asshole".
The way it works is that you neither end, nor start with the prequel trilogy, that isn't as good as the original trilogy, but instead works as an extended flashback. It also completely leaves out the notoriously bad Episode I, which isn't needed, because pretty much every plot and character gets reintroduced in Episode II anyway.
It supposedly also adds some other narrative side effects, which you can read about in the link, although of course those are spoilers.
