Just played an hour or so of it, endless spawn camping and bullet sponge enemies. Great looking graphic engine but its just another shooter. Made me miss Red Orchestra 2 so much.

While it's not quite Red Orchestra hit and die, it really only takes a couple of shots to take someone down, less if headshots even. Only bullet spongy thing so far seems to be the hero power, which makes sense.
It can't connect to my EA account, so I'll have to wait to try it.

You could of fooled me. I unloaded an entire clip in quite a few opponents faces. That to me is pretty annoying. The maps and spawn points are fairly uneven. Over all I haven't found any enjoyment out of it. Sound and Graphics however are top quality. It looks really fantastic.

Sound is why I fell in love with Battlefield, I'm not really a shooter type but playing BC2 on my first HD Monitor (TV) with Hard Tapes was so incredibly atmospheric, the sound is brilliant in those games. Hearing cannon shells blast past me or getting deafened when a wall next to me got blown up, loved it.
Tested it and my guess was right: it feels like another Battlefield (my last BF was 3) just with a few pickups. It was funny how a Tie-Fighter flew through the ground with about half the body while the round before I splashed mine into an invisble wall or something. The few rounds I played were a bit like a normal Battlefield game. First I played as an imperial trooper. Our troops keep rushing to the enemies spawns and sooner or later a Darth Vader joined the party. At least I managed to kill Luke at the end of the match. Dat rebel scum!
After the swap the same thing happened again: troops and AT-STs keep pushing and began to spawncamp. The most diapointment in the match was that I was unable to use the Ion-thingy that should turn red shots into blue shots to attack machines. The ability was ready but I pressed the button very often but my baster didn't chance (my buddy said it's possible with every weapon, especially with the standard blaster I used).
I have watched the videos of the survival mode on Tatooine and while it was a good start with a buddy the first thing I have noticed that the graphics are not the same as in the videos, even though it was set to ultra settings. Sure, they are quite good but maybe it makes a difference wether you watch the game or actually play the game. I have a GTX 470 so the work on the engine was good.

Sorry but after all this hype it's more or less another DICE shooter just with a film license. It could be a quite good game itself but I think it's overrated. At least it didn't convinced me to consider buying the game.
I watched Mack play it on a livestream today. Wasn't impressed (I don't think Mack was either). Game looks great, but there's tons of glitches, very few levels, and overall just lacks atmosphere. Just another typical mindless shooter that happens to be using the once great Star Wars license.

I didn't really have much interest in buying Battlefront for any platform. Seeing that livestream today just confirmed it.
Meh, I think I'll stick with the old Battelfronts. Playing on my own in a mode that's also available in multiplayer, conquest, is what attracted me to those games. I don't care if the bots aren't bright, it's just plain fun.

If survival mode, or 5 v 5 squadron mode are the only things that contain AI in this game then it's a big fat no.

Well I wouldn't argue with that. But when you're use to like I said Red Orchestra 2, this kind of game is just spungy and annoying. When you should someone in the face, you expect them to die lol. Unless they are battle droids.
Well, I just played the beta for close to two hours and I had quite a good time. I'm also surprised how well my lappie handles the game. Sure I have to keep most things on medium setting, but it's still a fine looking game. The special pick-ups are interesting. Once again, I'm absolutely useless in fliers, but shooting little people in an AT-ST is a blast. :)

I actually haven't noticed any real glitches myself. It definitely appears to be DICE's most robust open beta event yet.

From a technical stand point it is quite impressive for DICE. My PC is not perfect but even I got a great performance out of the game. I actually put it to low just to see what it looks like and even that looks quite good.
Patch was just released. The beta will be coming down in a couple of hours. After that full focus goes on to the game and preparing it for release. Thanks for the comments.

I dont know whether I should be more happy for you on your new job or the fact that EA has released an open beta for Star Wars Battlefront. Congrats to you on your new job!
