I just found out, devastating news. He did a really good job with Chekov's accent because he's Russian. What makes it all the more sad is that he was only 27. He will surely be missed. :(

Do you have no respect for the dead? Just because you don't think he's a nice person doesn't make it so. It was a tragic accident, and no one can replace him because everyone is unique in their own way.

Indeed. What people often forget is that when you're bilingual, it's often difficult to "fake" the accent of one language when speaking in the other. Anton was perfectly bilingual, speaking both Russian and English fluently, so his "fake" Russian accent probably required a lot more effort than for most people.

Hopefully the production team of Star Trek Beyond will be able to sneak a quick tribute to him in the film's opening or end credits, although I suspect the final cut is already complete.

Oh, when I noticed the headline I thought it was the original Chekov actor.

I can't say I know him (only thing I saw with him was probably Terminator:Salvation and I don't even remember him there) but it still sucks.
Well, dumb accidents happen. There is nothing to be done about that. :-/

He was crushed by his own car as it moved backward crushing him on wall.

It will be a conundrum for the producers, if there is another sequel to the rebooted movies that is. I guess that will not be certain untill we see how well Beyond does at the box office. It it warrants a sequel I wouldn't be surprised if Chekov got written out of that one with a line of dialogue about getting promoted and assigned to another ship or something.

Must be really weird and sad for Walter Koenig, to see the actor a third of his age who took over his role for a new generation of fans pass away first.

I didn't like the movies at all. But very sad to see someone go so young.
