tremere110: Kinda have to otherwise they'd have to explain an aging android. I mean Soong could have made an aging android but it certainly wouldn't age while blown up ;)
To be fair, he easily added a beard at one point. I could easily see him make more modifications to himself to reflect a more human side. Heck, all Lal had to do was pick a skin to wear.
I hope that this will be good but after discovery i have my doubts but i want too be proved wrong.
I must be one of the few people who really liked Discovery, I like many of the main cast. The Klingon's were probably the worst of it but I'm liking everything else.

I didn't even think TNG was that great a series, yeah it had it's share of great episodes, but your average TNG episode was painfully low-budget and just plain boring, it took me quite an effort of willpower to even watch all the seasons.

I much prefered DS9 because it actually had a story arc with reappearing characters with the Dominion War.

TNG basically turned the franchise into a soap opera.

True, way too much "character" stuff and not enough focus on just sci-fi exploration.

This is literally the silliest take on TNG I've ever read.

My argument stands, half of TNG is As The World Turns, one third hippie agenda and the rest was science fiction.
The original series was 75% science fiction and 25% hippie stuff and I liked it more because of it, watch Forbidden Planet to see where Roddenberry got the inspiration from.
Worst of all, the success of TNG contaminated every sci-fi series that came after it for the next couple of decades, including BSG.

If by "As the World Turns" you mean episodes that change something about characters or the setting (like Worf finding out about his son, Data discoveres Sung's legacy) - you are wrong. There are far less than half (I would say 10% most) episode in TNG that advance some global plot. It was DS9 that tried one up "Babylon 5" (and failed, btw) in terms of making story arcs.

Are Offspring and Drumhead "character" episodes or sci-fi exploration?

Well, this and Data's human side and getting all emotional and that Redheaded doctor with her problems and the same for the rest of the crew, man... even thinking about TNG makes me feel miserable.

I enjoyed DS9, but if felt like the authors were writing the story on the go, with some events going nowhere or being reset with some tricks. Also, many resolutions were extremely naive.
And season 7 was terrible.. there were a bunch of fillers with songs (WTF), the war conclusion was a bit anticlimactic, Dukat's character was ruined, and the prophet's story ending felt a bit rushed and unappealing.

Define "science fiction".

So, emotions in artificial life form is not a science fiction topic?

And honestly, personal problems of the crewmembers were only in a handful of episodes. If your most prominent memories are about those...

(IMO) the worst episode from all 90s ST shows was the baseball one in DS9!

TOS was the worst ST show and the reboots the worst movies. I did like the 80s movies with Kirk though.
