RWarehall: Picking it apart as a laymen and calling Stardock bastards or visa versa is just foolish. And the repeated claims of the uninformed in this thread about what is or isn't "ridiculous" are notwithstanding.
I agree with this statement. There is no real side for the bystanders here. I think you confused me with someone else on the whole damages being ridiculous bit. I'm not taking sides, merely pointing out the details according to the account of TfB, and those are to be taken with a healthy dose of salt.

RWarehall: Were Fred and Paul trying to capitalize on this?
No, they've been trying to make it for years. It is however possible that Activision finally decided to allow them to make it because of Stardock's revival of the licence. F&P have been wanting to make their sequel for a very very long time and they've only just been given the chance to.
have P&F been trying as in trying trying or just saying they've been trying. I think before their problem was Atari. Now, they have a new "problem" in Stardock. The PR mess going on is damaging the brand both ways. I hate to see if a judge rules that P&F's actions are indeed bringing hard to Origins, they could be fined heavily and GOTP is cancelled (if they've been working for years, why have they had NOTHING to show us-no concept art, no storyline, NOTHING?).

No, their problem was that their company is owned by Activision. Nothing to do with Atari. I didn't say they had been working for years, I said they'd wanted to work on it for years. They finally got that chance, Activision freed them up to work on it. Did you even read the post above yours?
yes I did. By problem I meant a company they could blame for not being able to make it, not anything else

Nonsense, Atari understood that they didn't own the game copyright or publishing rights, that's why GOG had a split deal with Atari and P&F.
This was probably already mentioned in this thread, however https://forums.starcontrol.com/487690/qa-regarding-star-control-and-paul-and-fred is a fantastic read once Kavik_Kang starts posting in it.
The thread goes off the Stardock mandated rails on the fourth page once Kavik_Kang starts posting in all his angry-insane-bitter-rage.
Is http://forum.uqm.stack.nl working for anyone else? It's spitting out error messages for me, was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing that.

Haha, he sent me an abusive PM on there continuing to compare me to Lenin. :P

It looks like that forum is using an outdated (and dangerous) PHP function.

And the Nautilus file browser.

Actually, in the inspector view (F12), it appears that the error is rather literal, rather than being some function gone wrong.

Ah, as I had predicted. It is a Tetris style situation, but with a twist. Except in the case of Tetris, it was vastly more complicated.

Mention Traveller RPG and it's 1977 creation date to him.

No f**king way!

You can do it if you want. But not in that thread, I've already given up too much to keep it on topic. :P

RWarehall: And look! You forum morons are at it again with the downvoting. I hope everyone of you suffers for being the complete and utter jerks you all are. YOU people are why this forum has gone to shit and you people are too stupid to realize it. People like you will get exactly what you deserve in time. Losers all of you.

My posts in this thread are trying to be informative. Tell you how it is and how things really do work, but keep sitting back in your ignorance and pretending you can change things you can't.
Forum users have every right to use the forum's rating system to vote down posts that they either find abusive, arrogant, or uncivil. In fact they can vote something down for ANY reason. That is the nature of the forum here. To whine about it and then repeatedly insult anyone who has downvoted you, and then wish them all future suffering, is petty, infantile, and childish. oh, but you want to be respected and have your opinions taken seriously, and really, as some kind of super informative last word on everything. Telling us all "how it is" and "how things work".

Any kind of lawyer should know at least something about arguing to persuade people, some idea of how not to be abrasive and abusive, some sense of civility. But unless you are a lawyer with specific legally definitive knowledge and case law about trademark and copyright law regarding this specific situation, then you are nothing more than a try hard amateur armchair lawyer, and no more weight should be given your arguments than for anyone else. Despite claims or insinuations to have some kind of definitive information on "how it is" and "how things work". If you are a lawyer, then you really have no visible understanding or self-awareness about your own distinct lack of basic civility and the art of persuasion, only some kind of overweening sense of self-importance.

It is on YOU to restrain your own bad behavior, not on everyone else to implicitly agree with everything you say and how you say it, without any downvoting whatsoever, so you can then, and only then, behave like an adult with some measure of civility.
Like I said in the other Star Control/Stardock lawsuit thead on the GOG forums, I haven't logged into the Stardock forums since the fiasco of Elemental: War of Magic, and being a pre-orderer idiot/beta tester for Elemental: War of Magic(E:WoM).

So please, as a favor, counter-toll Kavik_Kang on the Stardock forums for me & others.

e:WoM was flat out terrible in the beta tests, and all beta test-feedback was ignored by Stardock. Even to this day, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell blames the poor reception of E:WoM on "poor memory management", and not the buggy/unfinished/broken gameplay mechanics that it launched with.

Every game that Stardock has published since 2010 has been:
A)a relaunch of existing titles.
B)a new IP game with barebone gameplay to be fleshed out by DLC "coming soon"
C)standalone expansions of existing titles that include barebones game + DLC

Sins of a Solar empire series: A + C extremely hard
Ashes of the Singularity: B + C exceptionally hard
Galactic Civilization 3: A + so much coming soon DLC B's
Offworld Trading Company: B + C capitalist trader edition.
Elemental: Pure-strain C, with E:WoM being so toxic it's not even listed on the official Elemental series website.

No, I've run out of enthusiasm. Also I actually feel bad, it's becoming clearer and clearer that he's suffering some kind of delusion. Now I'm not suggesting we should indulge people's delusions, but I've lost the amusement I was getting from challenging him before.
