Ok, recent reddit to the rescue: www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/3zlmoz/question_about_pvp_slider

(Hey, why "You cannot post any links at this moment"? Am I doing anything spammy? :-( )

It seems that at the moment you can't "set the slider to 0". That's a bummer. But I sort of like the idea that in certain low-profit safe areas the system will hardly match you with a human, and if you want to venture into high-profit dangerous areas you'll have to compete with other players.

Still hoping that this part comes true though: "There will be no switch to completely turn off PvP (at least not currently - who knows when we get to balancing - there may be a large population that want to be segregated and have no risk - and I decide that we should provide that as an option as well)"

skeletonbow: Amazing isn't it. Last I checked it was around 90M. Keeps growing with no signs of slowing down. To me that indicates both an extreme demand out there for this kind of game as well as high reputation and strong level of trust in the company to meet its stated goals. The fact it keeps growing suggests that those who have confidence in the project greatly outweigh those that lack confidence IMHO.
Amazing indeed. An interesting phenomenon to observe, even for those like me without any interest for MMO's and the like. Backers spent 80+ on average, just to support. Even more amazing are the reports that some spent 5 figures amount on that game ( read somewhere up to 30k usd) . And the game itself is just a portion of that money machine. I'm simply wondering how much more they will "need" to complete the project and what the completed game will actually deliver.
You know what would of been awesome. If this MMO shit game never happened and instead of Roberts got Mark Hamill, John Rhys-Davies and a bunch of good actors and made a Wing Commander 3-like space sim with story told through FMVs and some CG, just like old times.

Of course he won't because he has an ego the size of the Titanic and has to be "pushing technology" and other BS.

By the way, imho, it's just about the dollars. The MMO model offers so much more opportunities than the classic game you see. Had he put his effort towards a wing-commander ++++, with state orf the art tech and even a sandbow mode, he probably would never ever have approached that level of cash generation !
when is this game going to be done. for fuck's sake.

this is going to turn into some kind of fucking ongoing web 9.0 constantly monetized social network horseshit and you'll never be able to actually play this game.

finish the game. finish the game. I can't even play it I bet it'll take one of those new cards at this point.
It's never going to be "done", because then it will finally be judged and won't be able to keep itself in the news constantly so they can advertise their digital ships to trick ppl into buying meaningless crap!
