Howdy GOG'er! ;)

What's your take on a standing setup?
Yay or nay? Personally I think it's a terrific idea.

Take care and remember to stand up every once in a while! ;)

I alternate between sitting\standing at home.
However, for the standing setup, I'm using a crappy DIY with boxes on the desk lol.
(I just need to move the monitor + mouse&keyboard)

Yes, I took the plunge and brought something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stand-Desk-worktop-available-colours/dp/B007QTT7B6/ref=sr_1_3?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1487861553&sr=1-3&keywords=sit+stand+desk

Really good, mechanical so not much can go wrong. Though I haven't yet dropped it, always standing. So much better, more freedom.

Do note you will ache if you stand all day, its hard work! Well worth it though definately terrific idea!

I was checking some of these crank model ones and thought it had the best cost / benefit ratio. Great to hear it's a pretty solid deal, man :)

The benefits of standing up are so numerous that I can't even describe like half of 'em. Source? Me! :)

Nay. I tried it at work, I just couldn't concentrate as well as I can while sitting down.

Also, I seem to recall the health benefits of simply standing (instead of sitting) have been later revealed to be overly exaggerated, ie. it isn't that beneficial after all. Sorry I don't have a link, I just recall reading that in some newspaper one or two months ago.

I eat all my meals standing up.
I think the people who sing its praises from the rooftops forget its one fatal flaw: it's really fucking unconfortable.

All things are relative.

What if this is your office chair:

For the office, it may offer some benefits (no slouching, etc.) for certain tasks. Speaking for myself, I can't imaging doing any kind of long-form typing while standing. This traditionally requires a certain posture with the wrists elevated above the elbows, and unless the keyboard is at about chest height while standing, one's wrists have to bend 90 degrees outward in the opposite direction. I can picture tall people hunching over and resting their elbows on the desk, which defeats the purpose of any supposed heath benefits.

For the home, forget it. I want my chair.

That thing is awesome for scratching your back and butt though.

I did just get a height-adjustable desk at work (and have been using the last week to set everything up again so that I can work properly), in an effort to stand more than I have been and get better posture and health from that.

Oh yep, but think of it as something transitory. 85% of the time you're standing...

You're right imho when it comes to focus, I guess. Mundane stuff is easily done while standing, thoughtful thinking can be a bit tricky to master and tough to bear.
But.. but dude ;P

The benefits are incredibly real, in the short term, I say. Trust me, wouldn't be stating it if it wasn't as near as solid ;P
