Whether it's intentional or they just can't be arsed to put in the extra effort, they're once again neglecting people who prefer direct downloads. Good thing that we have a fully optional™ client as an alternative.
I also noticed they don't seem to bother with properly compressed installers any more. I know this varies on a case by case basis, but I remember in the past game downloads were usually much smaller than the final installation size, while for many recent releases there's hardly a difference in size ( see: Dragon's Dogma ). Could be just a coincidence, but as far as I know Galaxy, like Steam, directly downloads the full-sized files. Maybe it would hurt their Galaxy usage statistics, if people could download much smaller versions of the games directly via browser? :|
