At some point i almost bought Hammerting, then heard it's a somewhat broken and abandoned, so i reconsidered. Well for free i'm willing to give it a shot.

I didn't hate this game... But I found Craft The World much, much better.

As is often the case, I unfortunately already own the games that are available as giveaways, so I'm usually out of luck. but then BenKii gets it for the giveaway, in case anyone misses this giveaway.
Thanks for the freebie!

Thank you GOG and Team17 for the game. Since it is a strategy game it is not my cup of tea but in opposite to others I am aware that not every genre is meant for everybody and since I am aware that there are people out there who enjoy strategy games quite a lot I am happy for them instead of complaining about this not being a game that is more to my liking. So again, thank you.

Can some one share what is the "official" status of titles such as this?
Can the community of owners LEGALY potentialy reverse engineer / break stuff to create additional support / mods / whatever? Cause even without source code, this seems to have allot of potential.
Thanks for the free game, Team17 and GOG! Finally a game which was sitting on my wishlist. :)

*sigh* Once again, someone dropped the term "abandonware" and misguided people instantly start fantasizing about what the legal implications might be.
I think what "00063" actually meant to say was: The game *seems* abandoned in the sense that it didn't receive updates or new content in a long time. (Actually: the last update was in February 2022, source gogdb ). That doesn't mean that the game is actually "legally abandoned" (not discussing if that concept even exists in copyright law). It still has a developer (Warpzone) and a publisher (Team17) and a seller (GOG) that determine what happens with this IP and title.

This!^

But also this:

Quote from the game's page:
"Modding
Want to bring your own spin to Hammerting? The game has been built with modding in mind! A bundled SDK allows you to build pre-packaged mods, adding anything from new names, to plugging in full-blown systems in native C/C++. Documentation, additional hooks, and general support for this is something we plan for after Early Access."
Thanks for the free game.
