JinKazaragi: I have a question about that insomnia sale everyone is talking about since I never seen one before, as far as I understood it's games are sold with a high discount but only a limited number of those games.
Assuming you put one of those games in the cart is it "reserved" then or could it happen that I want to pay and suddenly the store says too late it's gone?
They get reserved for some short period of time. When you click, it sends you to checkout. I doubt you could wait hours, but GoG definitely lets you have time to checkout...well at least the last time it ran.

I don't believe you can leave it in your cart indefinitely or even until the next one though...

karnak1: As soon as they get in the cart I assume they're reserved.
At least that's how it worked with me.
Something like that, yeah -- if you watched the games' numbers of copies remaining in the front page, you'd even see the number go up occasionally, presumably because either someone took the game out of their cart, or they went to checkout with it, then backed out.

I don't plan to store it there for hours, only between 5-20 minutes depending on how well my internetconnection works.

Thanks for the answer.

Be aware that some of the more sought-after games can blow through several hundred copies in much less than 20 minutes during these sales. : )

That's why I asked, the paying process takes that long for me because of my bad internetconnection and my long paypal-password.

God, I hope that typing your PP password is the shorter part of the process. XP

Yes, it takes about 5 minutes since it's burned into my memory the rest depends on my luck sometimes loading the PP page takes less than a second but there were also cases where it took 15 minutes.
That's why I wrote 5-20 minutes, 5 minutes for the password + an unknown amount of time between 0-15 minutes which depends on my internetconnection.
Just a comment about Insomnia. I remember some people whinged about the need to be fast to pay -- as a result some had issues with banks over the small rapid transactions i think....at least those who used their cards directly?

Correct. I recall some people mentioning the same even for Flash Sales. Many small transactions don't play well with their banks and fraud protection measures.

I think i had that happen once to me. Try to not use a card directly if i can help it these days... annoying when it happens during a sale!! ( have a handy alternative card i can use now too)
Something interesting gonna happen today, I dunno what, I just know it WILL.

muntdefems: Tomorrow we shall know: if there's no new Weekly Staff Picks, prepare your wallets and your sleep-deprivation drugs as we will be entering Insomnia-land on Tuesday (after this weekend's deals expire).
Yeah, last weeks Weekly Staff Picks fired on Monday, can't remember the exact time however and can't check it now (you only see the date if the post is more than a day old).

Can anyone tell the hour the Weekly Staff Picks promos usually start?

I'd definately rather have a normal sale than Insomnia. The only Insomnia I like is the one with Al Pacino an Robin Williams. I just don't like gimmicky sales. Let's just get all the deals nicely laid out, let's have time to breathe and choose what we buy.

If we get an Insomnia sale I might buy some stuff, it happens to be something I really badly want and it's on sale at the right moment, but I refuse to watch the site like a hawk because marketing gimmicks.

I can't even buy anything except when I'm home anyway. :l
Probably won't buy much as a result.
I'll be satisfied if others enjoy it though.

Right about now, I think.
