You can`t be a real Goglodyte, if you haven`t experienced and survived an insomnia sale!!!!

Yeah, well, lucky for those who haven't. =P

Rivdoric: +1, completely.
I do think Insomnia sales are not really respectful for adult customers.

And it seems I'm not the only one who thinks that way, because even Steam dropped flash deals on sales now to "ensure that everyone can get what he wants". Best decision Steam ever made
avatar
JKeift: No, Steam did that because having flash sales would be a nightmare with the new refund option. Imagine the thousands of refund requests they would receive each day from people who bought a certain game on sale and then saw it gets an ever deeper discount for a limited time.

And I'm relatively new to GOG, so I've never been part of an Insomnia Sale yet. But it sounds amazing. It's not about being an adult or a teenager, or about deserving "respect" from GOG, it's about going with the flow and having fun. I'm 30 years old and work on my own, I'm no little kid, but I'd love to have the chance to get involved in an Insomnia Sale sometime and see what I can get out of it.
You're partly right on the first part, but you're wrong too man ; they did remove the flash deals during sales for the reason i stated above as well, I'm 100% sure of that. It was clearly written by valve.

"We'll still be highlighting your top games on the front page for 24-48 hour spans, but those products will stay at their most competitive discount, before and after being featured," Valve wrote.

"It's not a major change, but it does make the sale a lot more valuable for customers, and it allows us to build sale features that recommend your product all sale long, instead of just during its front page feature."

It was done at first to let customer have time to purchase the games they were waiting for.

And for the second part, I reiterate what I said, of course it's my humble opinion, but i do think that making 2h sales are really not customer friendly ; It's your point to think differently of course but please respect my opinion.

I hope it's an insomnia sale, they are my favorite! everyone gets really active on the forums, but in a good, sleep-deprived crazy sorta way. it's the best!
I've marked them all down and you can have the whole lot for $50!

Yeah, and GOG implemented regional pricing so we'd soon be flooded with tons of AAA games. I'm also 100% sure of that as that's what they (more or less) said. Sigh... :(

Are those widgets or gizmos? Looks like copper wiring. Could be a whatcha-ma-callit, possibly doo-hickies. Pretty sure they're not thing-a-mabobs. Are they thing-a-mabobs? I might need some. Got plenty of whoozee-whatsits.

Of course there are official AND unofficial reasons, that is why i said he was partly right ; can't you just read the entire answer instead of just the part that suits you ;) ?

Financially i dare say that "too much is too much" and have a tendancy to make customer run away, at least it is what flash deals do to me.

It can become a real drug, hence completely putting the merchant/website into it's client's head for those that are sensitive to these messages (and i'm sure it is the first purpose of these flash deals, to make the customer think "gog" "steam" or whatever, each time he wakes up) ; but for other people, it can have the complete reverse effect.

and I know the '14 spring sale was an insomnia sale in mid-may b/c that's when I joined this crazy.

I hope I never see another spring as long as I live.
If only people read, I don't know, at least until post#14 of every thread... :\
