That happened to me twice with Aarklash (not the waking up part, but leaving and coming back and seeing I had just missed it!). Luckily for me Aarklash was only of "click to see if I win it" status (I've "clicked to win" about 4 games - I'm very cautious with my clicks! - don't want to "waste" a winner on a game I didn't want as much as one of my big ones! ;) )

I'd take you up on Bard's Tale, but I have nothing interesting with which to barter. :-(

Luftrausers was the second game on my wishlist :P Every time, I barely missed it :P Ah, well...it's discounted price wasn't much better than a standard sale. Now, I'll be lurking, waiting for the one person to come on here and say they slept through the game I picked up an extra of, just so I can be a gifty person.

eiii: Oh my ... lots of games :), if I wouldn't have already enough of them in my backlog.
We urgently need a shop which also sells the time to play the games. :P
lowtechgeek: Oh man, I would pay premium coin for that service!!!! We urgently need a shop which also sells the time to play the games. :P
Of course, I'd need the time to set up the time-selling shop . . .

Yeshu: Sorry, but by your logic ANY female character is only female to get lonely male nerds attention.
Also you come to allot of conclusions without any actual evidence. It's borderline conspiration theory territory.
The plot is simple, but it is not meant to be complex or confusing. You learn about an old mans dream and go on a journey to make that dream come true.
Again, it's not a game for everybody and you don't have to make up some bs theory's about the developers trying to draw in horny gamers with a female character to justify you not liking it.
It's not in your taste, that's it.
You have missed one important distinction - and that is whether the developer uses it consciously to gain an advantage or not. I don't think you will argue about Lara Croft - here, it's obvious. I would say that games like Longest Journey, Syberia, Tunguska, So Blonde, and similar stuff are also a bit obvious. Also you come to allot of conclusions without any actual evidence. On the other hand, consider games like Silent Hill 3. The main protagonist is a girl called Heather, but the game does not depend on her feminine charm to carry on the plot.

If there's one thing I've learned during this promo, it's that GOG's community is freaking awesome!
I've almost never ventured into the forums before this.
Kudos everyone!

And so twilight descends upon Olde England and the country's insane gamers prepare for another night of frantic key-tapping and jolly banter. It is a quarter to nine here on a cool peaceful evening and I'm oddly invigorated by the prospect of no sleep (I still haven't put my head down - a personal record, I think) and copious quantities of slider-gazing and hoping for that ever elusive freebie. I still haven't bagged one, but as they say its the taking part that counts. Prepare your weapons, the summoning is upon us!!
