Man...GOG knows games like this are going to stop the show for a long time - Why so many copies?

I imagine there's just one poor bastard out there buying all these copies of Raiden in hopes to get the sale moving again.

He's drained his overseas bank account, on the phone with uncle Jimmy, doing the Western Union thing....
Shoes are produced from materials so are limited. But games can be produced infinitely espedially on sites like this. So it is hard to sell %90 off for shoes.

Yeah but it's fun to day-dream. :)

I think you overestimate the cost to produce shoes and underestimate the cost to provide services like GOG, servers aren't free.

Ungunbu: i do not agree that "Comparing FTL to a rogue like is very fair" -- i presume you played games like rogue, angband, tome etc.. ;) most important thing imho is that they are turn-based :) FTL has a kind of "active-pause" feature which is very different
The review isn't mine, I haven't played the game, nor enough rogue-likes to make a judgement (the term doesn't mean anything to me, I have enough troubles with genres as it is, mixed as they often are in a single game), it was pretty much the first hit when I searched for an explanation. Diablo is frequently also described as a rogue-like lite, though.

DiscipleJF: Good morning. :)
Okay, I've perused the last several pages of posts and am glad to see I didn't miss anything I was still waiting for. :-)

Thanks to anyone who had "Send xjay73 a wake-the-F-up email if such-and-such game shows up" on their side to-do list... you can cross it off now. lol

But materials can recycle. When someone downloads a game it is done. It is like you sell him the game and he gives you back so you can sell him again to someone else. As long as all the people dont donwload at the same time there isn't much problem.

I bought games years ago from GOG, I can download them again if I want to play the game now. That costs money. As I said, I think you are underestimating the cost to provide this service.

Is there any way to get this thread to auto-update when a post arrives?

True. An average Nike shoe cost less then 10$ to manufacture, including shipping, and how much does it sell for?
On the other hand, server cost is reducing rapidly, otherwise how can all those streaming site offer so much for hardlly anything, not to mention amazon, google or netflix. But yes, it does cost to keep a download catalouge.
