This is the article I read regarding it. Very disappointing.

Tarnicus: "In my long-running discussions with Mozilla’s most senior management over this issue, they’ve been clear in their belief that their userbase – and relevance to the internet – will dwindle unless they add support for viewing Hollywood movies in their browser. Not just Hollywood; the BBC has been one of the major “rights holder” voices calling for the addition of DRM to the web."

"Mitchell Baker, the executive chairwoman of the Mozilla Foundation and Mozilla Corporation, told me that “this is not a happy day for the web” and “it’s not in line with the values that we’re trying to build. This does not match our value set.”

But both she and Gal were adamant that they felt that they had no choice but to add DRM if they were going to continue Mozilla’s overall mission of keeping the web free and open."

What a crock of shit. Adding DRM keeps the web free and open? that's one of the most ridiculous things I've EVER read.
Maybe I misunderstood the article. I thought they were adding DRM support so that the proprietary media would be more securely accessible, where plug-ins are less secure. As far as I understood, their disappointment stemmed from not liking the internet changing in more proprietary directions. If they didn't add DRM, then the other more "free and open" aspects of Mozilla (whatever those are) would be lost as users migrated to other browsers.

vulchor: Yeah, and weakly defending your behavior and putting an emoticon at the end doesn't do anything to make people like you more. In fact, it's worse now that you're just reminding people of it again.

You could have just as easily have said, "Thanks, I didn't realize my behavior was frowned upon, I'll knock it off and be more respectful".

What makes your new statement more annoying is that, you're right, it was only a buck-fifty, yet you kept begging for it all the same.

Ungunbu: but... are you serious...? i mean... i just asked a small loan of 1.5$... come on guys...
I am serious. So was everyone else when they politely asked you to knock it off. Also, you hadn't edited your post before I started replying so I didn't see your edit about the "loan", but the point stands anyway. You had no clout here and you still went on a begging spree. That's definitely frowned upon.

We're a welcoming bunch, as you found out because someone did end up buying you that game. But I wouldn't expect that to happen very often if you have never really participated here before. Run a few giveaways of your own.

The rep system is not perfect, but it still does have some usefulness. And people will not be buying you games with a minus rep if they don't know you.

Also, while this community does have many giveaways (I've run a few myself), it's built upon more than just that. There's camaraderie here. It's not a place to go asking for hand outs.

Senteria: I am at my parent's place where they have internet. At my own place I lost internet due to neighbour's moving out. How am I going to get my new games back to my place. I know I got two microSD cards. 1x 2, 1x4 gb and one 8 gb usb stick. It's going to be tough.
avatar
Conrad57: The USB sticks will be your friends in this situation..

Anyway, that's all way off-topic, but you rattled my thinking. If you can get to a Target shop or similar office supply, some 1TB external HDD's are as cheap as $70. If you can't afford that, perhaps a larger USB stick.
Also, I know they've fallen out of fashion, but if you have any blank cds/dvds rattling around, you can burn the installers on those. I was helping a friend move and discovered they had spools of blank cds they had entirely forgotten about. It was actually pretty hilarious. But yes, jump drives are much nicer to use.

EDIT
and -- btw -- i don't really feel the need to make people like me :)
If you don't care whether or not people here like you, then you appear to be in Tarnicus's scenario #1. Have fun gaming the system without having the respect of your peers.

And you weren't asking for a loan, you made that comment after the fact. You were begging, and then bragged about how your begging paid off ever after people had asked you to knock it off or to at the least use the proper thread for it, which you brazenly ignored and stated you liked begging here instead.

I'm writing you off as a troll.
EDIT: Looks like I'm back in time.

Yeah, 100% contradictory, and very hypocritical on Mozilla's part. What is more bullshit about this is that Netflix works just fine on Firefox using the Silverlight plugin. They don't need to bow down to DRM, people can choose whether or not to use plugins for that purpose. I understand they want to get rid of that and have it supported by HTML5, but I don't see the point in that at all.

I hardly use Firefox anymore anyway as it's gotten quite bloated over the last couple years, but I still was very proud of them and their mission statement.
