Alien8n: I nearly broke my hand a year ago (popped the knuckle on my little finger and tore the tendons as far as I can tell) and made the discovery that I'm immune to every painkiller that can be bought with a prescription. Including codeine :/
Thankfully I also have a high pain threshold. As discovered over the course of several tattoos over the last 25 years...
Tarnicus: I've got a decent pain threshold - full contact sparring, thinking my fists were made of steel when I was younger and multiple dental extractions where I could feel everything and also a similar naturally high tolerance to opiates and benzodiazepines.
Having atypical trigeminal neuralgia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigeminal_neuralgia) was the worst pain I've ever experienced well and truly! There is a reason it is known as the suicide disease. Painkillers are useless on it and I was a guinea pig for anti-convulsants which were horrid so I tried to put up with it. Fortunately since I got lucky with 1 medication I haven't had it return since 2010 I think it last was.
That looks disturbingly familiar :/
In the past (when I was about 18) I used to get pain in my skull that literally felt like my skull was splitting open. So bad I'd actually end up punching myself or banging my head against walls to alleviate it.
More recently I get a recurring pain that seems to be centred where I guess the optic nerve is attached to the eye, always on one side only, and can only be described as feeling like someone has set fire to my retina :/
