vulchor: Oh dear god I understand. I've torn my earlobe off and ripped my nipple into thirds, and I totally understand the needle for anesthetic is by far the most painful. When I had my earlobe sewed back on, I told the doctor to not even bother with any injections and just sew away. Thankfully the earlobe doesn't have as many nerves as the balls do. The tissues on my earlobe were so shredded that the doctor wasn't sure if he could risk a local anesthetic anyway. fun times. At least a have a superbly high pain tolerance.
Alien8n: I nearly broke my hand a year ago (popped the knuckle on my little finger and tore the tendons as far as I can tell) and made the discovery that I'm immune to every painkiller that can be bought with a prescription. Including codeine :/
Thankfully I also have a high pain threshold. As discovered over the course of several tattoos over the last 25 years...
I've got a decent pain threshold - full contact sparring, thinking my fists were made of steel when I was younger and multiple dental extractions where I could feel everything and also a similar naturally high tolerance to opiates and benzodiazepines.
Having atypical trigeminal neuralgia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigeminal_neuralgia) was the worst pain I've ever experienced well and truly! There is a reason it is known as the suicide disease. Painkillers are useless on it and I was a guinea pig for anti-convulsants which were horrid so I tried to put up with it. Fortunately since I got lucky with 1 medication I haven't had it return since 2010 I think it last was.
