Wasn't really tracking it, just noticed it on my last refresh of the "General discussion" page and found it amusing enough to mention.

You click on "Buy now" and then , if you are lucky, GOG will say you don't have to pay. It's random. You can try only once per game, per round. At least, this is what I have understood, so far I haven't been able to get any game for free.

It's pretty inevitable if you use one of the GOG-provided avatars. Some folks cycle through those, and some GOG avatars become identified with a regular user. You stand out more if you use one from elsewhere, or your own creation.
