An animal you buy (in our case two new guinea pigs) which are then replacements for the hormonal desire for children. She can project all her motherly love on to them without the hassle of being a real mother.

She scared her mother by phoning her up Monday and saying "I am going to have a baby!!" and squealing, her mother thought that she was pregnant. SOOOOO funny!
I think FatOldGuy had the same experience with his child.
