don2712: I got my only freebie yesterday and lost it, but, it showed me how the freebie system works.
Just before I went to sleep I thought I would check how things were going on my tablet, Children of the Nile was on offer I had wanted it but missed it before so I clicked it and it came up as free but, then the problem occurred, I found i wasn't logged in to GOG I tried to log in but after 15 seconds or so a pop up said I was too late and I had lost it.
It would seem that freebies are just a random happening and depend entirely on luck not on what you have already purchased or how much you have purchased just when you click on buy, there may even be a a piece of software that stops the same account holder constantly clicking on each offer just in search of freebies.
I just don't understand how I got either message as I wasn't logged on.

HypersomniacLive: That's really odd. I thought it was impossible to get the checkout process going if you're not logged in, plus the way the freebies work since at least round two, iirc, you get an instant message telling you that the game got added to your account.

Are you sure that it's not somewhere on your game shelf and that you didn't receive the responding email from GOG?
No, it would be top of my shelf if I had it plus, I wasn't logged in so there is no way I could have grabbed it or they could have known who I was, in fact as I wasn't logged in it probably shouldn't have happened at all. It wasn't sleep deprivation hallucinating because there only a couple of titles I wanted plus I have so many games I have not yet played I decided not to lose sleep this time around over a couple of games. After I clicked buy the game picture turned to grey the price said zero underneath it said zero - free. I was interested in the game but, unsure about it as I'm not good at those types of games so free would have been a good price for me lol.
It never actually went to the checkout screen it stayed on the main countdown screen but the screen picture changed.
Has Trine (not sure it was on the list) or Trine II sold in this round.

Umm, no :P.
The 11th Hour.

HypersomniacLive: Are you talking about physical harm? That's what I'm questioning here.
Yes. Being raised in a violent environment unfortunately wasn't the best influence on learning how to interact with other human beings when conflict arose. I usually took it out on myself but did take it out physically on others at the worst of times. That is one of the most difficult lessons I've had to take responsibility for this lifetime. I am very fortunate not to even have a caution to my name at 37 given how I was from 18 to 22. The universe/god/random events or however you wish to look at it put some very challenging experiences my way to help show me who I was or how I was behaving. Hence you'll hear me say that I have learned not to regret my past experiences but try to learn from them, even if it takes multiple loops of experiencing the same lesson until it sinks in.

Martial arts training, in particular full contact sparring was one of the best things I ever did. It helped me to learn to control my fear and anger response, as my fight or fight response(not flight) seems to be more overactive than most people I've met. Full contact sparring is also a great release for inner shit, the best form of exercise I've found :)

Nope, Trine 2 hasn't appeared in round 3 yet.
Oh gosh... been spending last night awake waiting for Theme Park to come back, and then I just found this thread and discovered it had been the first game in second round. Feel like an idiot.

Btw hi everyone, I'm a suuuuuper noob here!

Trine 1 is not on the list, but Trine 2 is. It hasn't made its third appearance yet.

mrkgnao: Out of curiosity, how are you generating these quotes? I assume you have some script?
avatar
Pidgeot: Yes, I have a script running to generate these texts whenever the game changes and then copy the text to my clipboard (while also logging it for when I'm away). All I have to do is paste it into a new post.
What is the script written in? What URL does it access? Because if I look at the HTML of the front page, I don't see the current sale details (e.g. no "Interstate" at the moment).

BlackThorny: We all know it's tied to account, But I wonder when does it tie. IE when does the server decide what will be free?

After you do click, it's obviouslly ties YOUR attempt accordingly, so given the 3rd methood suggested, even if #236 was supposed to be free, you wouldn't get it if you clicked on #2 and #236, as your click was tied to #2.

deleuz: You're not going to game the system. It's been discussed several times throughout the thread, if you're really interested maybe do a little research. The bottom-line: you're not going to game the system without resorting to truly nefarious methods of questionable moral/legal standing.
I'm not aiming to game the system, If any, the easiest way to try is having multiple accounts through several browsers.
I'm mostlly trying to figure out the WHEN of a freebie. If for example you can only get a freebie within the first 100 copies sold, no point in trying to click buy now if you came to your browser after it sold 200, right?
Knowing this will save some time on my part, server strain on gog part, mouse clicker strain on my mouse... etc.

And Legend of Grimrock is probably up next after Interstate '76 Arsenal.

Your experience is puzzling in that it's different from every other account I've seen (including my own personal experience.)

Clicking buy when not logged in results in me being brought to the login screen. When I "won" Shadowrun for free, I was not logged in, I was forced to log in before I saw that I had won the game. On the very screen where you are shown that you've won the game, it shows the account name of the account that the game has been added to.

mc_leod: Then it was indeed a Freudian typo ;-)
I dont write much in forums but i enoyed the reading of yours and the other more
communicative guys here. That you were off is maybe one of the postings on which i also went off - even that we have 8h later here.
PS 10 weeks ago i have done "Blues" stayed in Kattomba very beautiful nature
Thanks for the compliment :) Katoomba is 10 minutes by train or a 1.5 hour very brisk walk if you're keen along the highway lol I think you're the first person on GOG who has visited the beautiful area of the world I live in :) If you ever come here again, I'll happily take you(as I have with other tourists) to really see the mountains. Having a guide who knows the land and its creatures is handy, and I love to walk and talk and be with nature.
