I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here; just can't figure out what it is :-)
You put your own email as the recipient's email. This way the code lands in your own account (if you use your GOG email) in the "My gifts" section.

P1na: You don't have to write a definite email address. Just write yours for instance, and then you'll get the code that you can mail anyone.

How do you purchase a gift copy if you don't know who you will be gifting it to yet?
As far as I understand from the FAQ, you have to enter the recipient's emaila ddress at checkout.

Tarnicus: Input your own email address and you will get a code in the mail and it will appear in the My Gifts section of your account. Once you send it to someone (redeemed through bottom left of page) you can see if they have redeemed it.
Ah, thanks for pointing that out! I wondered how that works, too.
