Tarnicus: Sorry to butcher your post but Romance of the 3 Kingdoms! Oh how I miss playing KOEI games. Rot3K 3 was the one I invested soooo much time into, and before that it was Nobunaga's Ambition 1 and/or 2 (memory a little sketchy on that one).
My brother and I loved these games back in the day. Nobunaga's Ambition was one of the first games of this kind that we tried, and it was so addictive. I may have to fire up the Genesis emulator and relive the glory days again.

I still have Bandit Kings of Ancient China (original boxed English Amiga version), though I must say - I'd bought this because it had fantastic reviews in the German gaming press (although there was no German version), but I never really got into this game. Maybe I was too dumb at that time, or too impatient. It sure wasn't as accessible as i.e. Civilization.

Btw. why is this thread still going? Waiting for the next insomnia sale? ;-)
Good morning all.
Had a few beers last night and finally went to bed at 4:40 this morning.
It's now 8:50 AM, did I miss Bard's Tales?

Sega would make a killing if they just let third party games on their emulator

Yah, it's a shame they don't sell more of the Genesis classics that way. Such a huge catalogue waiting to be tapped.

Indeed, there is only ONE Jack....Captain Jack!

Yes Tarnicus and Sinistar, I miss koei games greatly now that I lost my copies.

RoTTK 10 ruined my life, eat up so much of my time. Ah I am beside myself due to nostalgia, If GoG still does not get these titles anytime soon, I have to hunt in E-bay / Amazon for these titles to keep somewhere then download the "Superior" digital version from "Unconventional" places.

I also missed old Koei PC card games like Yugi Oh Power of Chaos: Joey the passion. Unlike the Magic The Gathering that unlock cards with MICRO TRANSACTION, it was the good old days of unlocking cards by victory, which preserved the sense of progression and fulfillment that your deck is getting stronger.

I seems that GOG does not have any card games, I comb through the entire GOG catalog to add things to my wishlist that other day and did not find any. Did I miss out in my search?

I'm not entirely sure how to break this to you, but I think you may have been cc'd by an enchanter.

Either that or you really can't hold your beer like you used to. Here, better let me hold them for you.

The Etherlords games are card-based, and very good. The is largely a series of battles, the [url=http://www.gog.com/game/etherlords_2]second has more character progression and exploration.

Great let me take a look........ Uh... oh...

No wonder I did not find any in the GOG catalog as I am populating my wishlist, as I must had already bought them in some promo.

Ha, these days my backlog is so huge that I don't even know what titles I own.......... ^.^

Sorry, I tried but...... just cannot keep up.

Well, here is the thing; Square-Enix wants control over how they sell their games. Steam gives them that control, while GOG doesn't. For starters, Square-Enix (and actually other Japanese companies) don't allow their games on Steam to be sold in Japan, so neither Final Fantasy III, VII or VIII are available there and since GOG hasn't implemented regional restrictions, I doubt Square-Enix would be happy with GOG being able to sell them. Then, there is the small matter of DRM, which Square recently announced as being responsible for a boost in their profits and that it was here to stay.

I imagine a very similar scenario with Koei, both wanting DRM in their games and regional restrictions.

What's the reasoning behind this decision?

I'm not quite keane on the details (you'd have to ask bansama about that), but what I can gather is that publishers can charge significantly more on retail without any of those "pesky" sales getting in their way.
