Tekkaman-James: Frute Brute is certainly my favorite of the Monster Cereal mascots, but his revival cereal is cherry flavored and simply tastes far too much like Frankenberry to really stand out.
Aye, which is why I reference the original Fruit Brute (the spelling was different than in the reboot). It, like the aforementioned Kaboom, was a variety of fruit flavours with marshmallows. Much superior to the new one.

And it's only then that my brain realises - they reboot cereals. That has to be a sign of this civilisation's oncoming twilight.

foxworks: Keane Award for Spring 2014!
Based on my probably shady recollection, this could be a relatively close race. As I wasn't here for the Fall sale, was there another title that even came close to stalling like Keane?

foxworks: Sounds great! I am looking forward to learning which title gets crowned the Keane Award for Spring 2014! What do we call this ceremony? The Keanies? :p
The Akeanemy Awards? The Jack Offscars? ;)

The Jack Offscars makes me think of something else entirely :p

IAmSinistar: A real connoisseur of the Monster Cereals hunts out rare boxes of Fruit Brute. :)

I like Grape Nuts and Wheaties, which are ostensibly adult choices (same with muesli). For "treat" cereals, which I sometimes eat as a dessert, I love Golden Grahams and Corn Pops. My favourite indulgence cereal is sadly hard to obtain now - King Vitamin.

As for cereals that cannot be found any longer, Eggo Cereal was my guilty pleasure.
Well, seeing as how I have never heard of Fruit Brute or King Vitamin or several of the others yall have spoken about. Guess they didn't sell them in Texas in my childhood. I do know there was another one called Boo Berry that didn't fair very well and got pulled from the shelves early. Still, I do know that each and everyone that has been mentioned must be good (except Boo Berry as it tasted like crap!) because we are still talking about them 40+ years later! lol

What's the "GET A ROOM'? I'm afraid to click on it. ;-P

NONE! Nothing inferior could even think of touching Lord Keane!
What I mean is that, while there were games that lasted more hours than Jack Keane 2, none of them sported a mere 100 copies.

Regrettably, I am too young to have had the original Fruit Brute. I remember seeing commercials that had Yummy Mummy in them, but I don't think I recall ever seeing the actual cereal on the shelf at the grocery store. Cereals get rebooted all the time. When I was a kid, the oat pieces in Lucky Charms were just that; oat pieces. Now, the oat pieces are coated in sugar and the assortment of marshmallows hardly resembles the originals.

Whoa. First cheese and now cereals. This could be a dangerous road, so I'll cut myself short. However, be warned, if you pursue this conversation, we may be forever changed once we emerge.
I remember Time Commando counting down during the middle of the night. It helped me get some sleep.

That's just homophobia. Boo Berry is clearly patterned on Peter Lorre, but they seem to have added shovelfuls of Tony Randell and Liberace, to the point where he seems like such a nelly stereotype that he's probably the ghost of a 1970s gay nightclub patron who overdosed on Poppers. ;)

Cereals get tinkered with certainly (I recall when the first "new" marshmallow got added to Lucky Charms, setting off waves of seemingly endless additions and specials). But a full blown reboot like the Monster Cereals are getting is a whole other thing. It's like if they suddenly put raisins in Grape Nuts (which would actually make at least half the name make sense).

Madness, I tell you, madness. I've said it before and I'll say it again - where other countries have history, America has nostalgia.
Hi all.

Thanks a lot for putting up the stats, guys - some of those titles went frighteningly fast!

Also good to see GOG making a healthy profit, which bodes well for another Insomnia sooner rather later - good news!

True, but that's why the award would be named after dear ol' Jack. Keane is already immortalized in the award itself and the recipients are those games that live up to his excellence.
