Putting my first real post-Insomnia day to good use. Finished my furniture acquisitions for a new space I've set up in the apartment. Also, unlocked my first new ship in FTL, and finally tried Papers, Please (man that's a grim game).

Hope you all are having a grand time too, and perhaps cracking open some of those Insomnia treasures.

FudoMyo: Did anyone pick up a gift code for Blade of Darkness. After much hemming and hawing, this line of ad copy pushed me over the edge:

That hacking and slashing can be all yours, all you need to do is visit your PM :D Enjoy!

Still not sure if the magic blows away when we really try to PLAY that stuff...
but i think as weather will be another two days horrible here ill give Bards tale or LBA1 a chance even if van Helsing and Morrowind is still on the HD and we have end of spring and summer is near.
As im also sitting at the screen at work, most of my gaming seasons are autumn and winter i like to go fishing or just see the sun sometimes.

Sachys: Ah good, an excuse to kill you at last... LIGUUURG!! - HIPPY ALERT!

donsanderson: Hey, I resemble that remark.
Anyone can enlighten me? from a film or game or?

Stilton: As a veteran (survivor) of the previous Insomnia sale I felt at the time it ended that the event would never be bettered, that the forum was the best I had ever encountered and that if it ever happened again the experience could never be matched.

Man, I couldn't have said it better. I guess I must fill this empty void that Spring Insomnia left with actual work. Until next time GOGers. Let us not be strangers :D

Hippie (or Hippy) refers to this:

We are just joking though I do still retain many feelings and ideals from the movement. :-)
I said 'resemble' rather that 'resent' as a play on words very common in the US.
Sorry to confuse you. ;)
Just checking in on the post Insomnia wind-down...

Sounds like a fun day! (Yes I actually DO enjoy setting up / decorating a new space as well) and awesome choice in games for a follow up! I'm a HUGE FTL fan and hope you end up getting as much joy out of the game as I have. Papers, Please is one I've always been mildly intrigued by - I've heard and read many good things about it. And grim is a good descriptor I would think - but I always figured I might find it a bit boring. Feel free to toss up a few extra impressions - in the least it'll keep the thread alive just a bit longer ;)

*edit* And wow nice to see all the feel good sentiment! I know I had a blast. By mid-round three I knew I wasn't even going to be "free clicking" on games and I STILL couldn't pull myself away for long periods at a time!

The decorating brings me happiness too. It was fun shopping for the various pieces, and today I stumbled across a really cool chair to finish the place. Now I've just got to set up the technology bits and the space is complete!

I'm loving FTL, even as it brutally savages my ship on Easy. I'm an old roguelike fanatic and this one just seems to hit a sweet spot. Even after a longish campaign ends in defeat, I find myself wanting to go at it again.

Only had one session with Papers, Please so far. It ended with my entire virtual family dying from the compounded effects of illness, cold, and starvation. I suck as a passport examiner clearly, and can barely process them fast enough just to make rent. But it's still fun. Your governmental masters tack on new bureaucratic regulations every day, complicating your job, and there are various storylines occurring as well. It's pretty compelling, even if you feel like a soulless apparatchik at the end of it all. :)

thanks for coming back for that - of course hippie(y) is known also the "free and easy" living of them
only Sachys expression was giving me some questionmarks
"excuse to kill you at last... LIGUUURG!! - HIPPY ALERT!"
is LIGUUURG!! - HIPPY ALERT something from a film?

I would guess that Licurg has a 'thing' against hippies, though he has certainly never expressed that to me.
I believe Sachys was jokingly alerting him to ones presence in the forums.
No other reference that I am aware of. ;)

Papers Please is very brutal. I had to create spreadsheet containing all the regions, towns, stamps, along with all the little requirements on one page so I can systematically review each passport. It's almost as hectic as watching the front page of GOG and keeping up with the conversions in its forums during this thing they call Insomnia Sale. :p

omegaunit: Ha haaa I'm back.

It's been a riot. You're all magnificent super-stars for all the reasons everyone else has already expressed. I could name-check but I'd forget loads and you know who you are.

If I learned anything it's that gaming is in a really good place right now, you just have to look at it from the right angle. That angle is here.

Peace and love
I'm back a lot later... I can't let it go.
